Bolton League Cricket Legends - David White

back

David Geoffrey White was born in Horwich, Lancashire in 1967 and has spent most of his playing career in the Bolton League as both professional and as amateur playing for Horwich RMI CC. He is a quality top order batsman and fast-medium out-swing bowler and is a wicket-keepers dream team mate due to the number of catches he receives. David has always been one of the most competitive crickets to play in the Bolton League and probably the fittest we have seen.

His career began as an 18 year old, in 1985, playing for Horwich, where he remained until 1991, which was probably his best ever season scoring 768 runs and taking 97 wickets.

1992 David played for Leicester 2nd XI and was professional at Blackrod in the Bolton Association scoring 850 runs and taking 80 wickets. 1993-1994 David left the Bolton Association to play as professional for Northern League side, Preston and his return was 1200 runs and 100 wickets in the two seasons.

David returned to the Bolton League in 1995 as amateur to play another season at Horwich and Kearsley for the 1996-1997 seasons.

David's first year as professional in the Bolton League was 1998, when he moved to Little Lever. After another amateur season for Kearsley in 1999, David returned to Horwich as their professional where he played the next eight seasons from 2000-2007.

Having now retired as a professional in the Bolton League, David is played as an amateur for Farnworth CC and Horwich from 2008 to 2015.

Statistics always tell a sportsman's tale - David has become only the second person in Bolton League history to score over 10000 runs and take 1000 wickets.

Retired from 1st team cricket in 2015 he has accumulated 18140 runs and 1304 wickets, David White is a true Bolton League Cricket Legend.

Well Done !!
