WARBURTONS BOLTON CRICKET LEAGUE

MINUTES OF THE GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING

HELD AT BRADSHAW C.C.

25th OCTOBER 2004

Apologies: Mike Hall, John Hutchinson, Kearsley C.C. Heaton C.C. were not represented.

Minutes of the September Meeting: These had been circulated previously, and agreed by the Committee to be a correct record.

Matters Arising: Our problem concerning boundaries was still being considered.

The Committee agreed unanimously who would be the recipient of the Hubert Pendlebury Award.

Correspondence: Details of grants, up to £7000, are available for small voluntary groups working with children. A workshop is planned for 1st November for sporting groups. Grant panel deadlines are 8th November and 7th January. Further details from John or Susan at the Community Foundation (0161 314 0947) or Bolton CVS 01204 396011. Website www.communityfoundation.co.uk.

Proposed Amendments To Rule: These were circulated at the meeting and discussed where necessary, however members of the Committee were asked to destroy these copies once they had checked their proposals had been included, so they would not confuse them with the voting forms to be e-mailed/posted along with these minutes.

Axford Indoor KO: Fred Elmore informed the meeting there was limited availability still at Little Lever Leisure Centre, where there is some spectator viewing. Various options were outlined, and the Committee agreed to leave the final arrangements to Mr. Elmore, with hopefully our competition completed before the County finals. The draw would be the same as last year, and clubs not fulfilling fixtures would be fined.

Finance: The Treasurer reported a balance of £3600.

Umpires: As a result of the course at Astley Bridge C.C. ten more umpires have applied to join the Bolton League, including two ladies. There will be a further course at Swinton Moor C.C. in January, and a scorers’ course in March. There is no fee for 16 to 18 year olds.

Juniors: The Junior AGM will be held on 18th November. Minutes of the October junior meeting, along with proposed amendments to rule, will be sent to junior reps and e-mailed to clubs.

Other Cricket Reports: The Manchester Evening News will continue to sponsor the inter-league KO for a further season. The Manchester Association have replaced the Northern League. The Bolton League have been drawn away all season, the first match is against the North Lancs. League. Matches will be 45 instead of 48 overs. Peter Stafford has been re-elected Committee Chairman.

The LCB are running a groundsmans’ course in March. The LCB have sent a strongly worded letter to Lords about the Over 50s cup draw, as Lancs. were forced to play the semi-final away even though they were drawn at home. Security at the Lancs. KO final had cost £2500.

Disciplinary Reports: Derek Kay informed the Committee that there had been 19 reports from umpires last season, and 15 players had been banned.

Any Other Business: There will be presentation by a solicitor from Kippax, Beaumont and Lewis on the new licensing laws at Little Lever C.C. at 7.30pm on Monday 1st November.

The Secretary will contact the ECB and LCB about which level of coaches can supervise the various coaching activities.

Date of Next Meeting: 29th November.

Date of December Meeting and AGM: 13th December.
