WARBURTONS BOLTON CRICKET LEAGUE

MINUTES OF THE GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING

HELD AT BRADSHAW C.C. 29th NOVEMBER 2004

Apologies: None. All clubs and officials attended.

Minutes of the October Meeting: These had been circulated and were approved as a correct record.

Matters Arising: Clubs were reminded their Welfare Officers should have enrolled on a County organised “Time to Listen” seminar.

Only level 2 coaches can supervise net coaching, but they can oversee a number of nets.

Representatives were handed details of the Axford Indoor KO, and were asked to pass them on to the captain or one of the players taking part. There is additional parking at the rear of Little Lever Sports Centre. The Bolton League winner will not be able to take part in the County finals at Old Trafford, as the date’s coincide, however Peter Stafford will the speaking to the LCB Chairman about this. There is a small spectator gallery at Little Lever S.C.

Correspondence: It appears not all Bolton League clubs receive the LCB News. Clubs who are not on the mailing list should let the Secretary know at the December meeting.

The LCC Legal Update concerning Licensing Laws was distributed to all clubs.

Finance: The Treasurer reported a bank balance of £1480. The following is still owed by clubs; A. Bridge £230, Eagley £162, Egerton £65, Farnworth £287, FSC £86, Greenmount £86, Heaton £93, Horwich £162, Kearsley £114, Tonge £465, Walkden £115.

The duration of our current sponsorship is to be confirmed.

Umpires: Law 40 regarding wicket keeping gloves will become effective in season 2005. Clubs and players should be aware shops are still stocking the old type gloves.

At the December meeting clubs are asked to let the Umpires know if they would prefer the scorers course in the New Year to cover the basics of scoring, or to be aimed at obtaining a qualification for scorers.

There was some confusion as to exactly which umpires will have to be CRB checked before the 2005 season.

Juniors: At the Junior AGM Mike Buckley was appointed junior representative, and John Hutchinson reappointed Junior Section Welfare Officer. All queries about welfare from Bolton League clubs should be addressed to David Lees at the LCB.

The Section Administrators are; U18 Darren Wilson, U15 John Hutchinson, U13 Mike Buckley, and U11 Ian Cavill.

Four proposals (enclosed or e-mailed with the senior proposals) were passed by a two-thirds majority at the Junior AGM and will require further two thirds at the League AGM.

There was some discussion about the practicality of implementing the following proposal; “In the event of a Hamer or Birtwistle Cup tie over-running, those junior fixtures unaffected will be fulfilled as published. The Age Group Secretary in conjunction with the Junior Chairman and Secretary will confirm fixtures in this event.”

It was noted that existing Junior Committee Rule 5 requires reserve dates to be incorporated in the fixtures.

Registrations: Clubs were reminded that the Registration Secretary should have an up-to-date list of clubs’ registered players before the commencement of the Axford Indoor KO in January.

The ECB and LCB will be reviewing their registration and transfer policies, which may necessitate minor amendments to our forms.

Amendments to Rule: The Chairman informed the Committee which had received a 50% majority, and will be taken to the AGM (see enclosed / previously e-mailed revised voting form).

Nomination of Officers: The following were nominated; President – P. Stafford, Chairman – M. Hall, Secretary – R. Taylor, Treasurer – W. Stevenson, Auditor – G. Salt, Co-Opted Members (3) J. Hutchinson, D. Kay, D. Morris, Junior Minutes Secretary – D. Kay, Junior Treasurer – W. Stevenson.

Any Other Business: The following clubs should let Peter Stafford have their averages as soon as possible; Eagley, Egerton, Farnworth (1st team), FSC, Greenmount, Horwich, Kearsley, Walkden and Westhoughton.

The Vice-Chairman noted that as three Bolton Association clubs had applied to join another league, perhaps we should be reviewing the future of the Bolton League.

Please let Rod Sandiford have your cricket ball order at the December meeting.

Roy Stafford was congratulated on running another successful League Dinner. It was suggested that in future only the actual winners should collect prizes.

Some members of the Committee had felt a November Dinner had been a success.

Clubs should let Roy Stafford know in the next couple of days their ticket requirements for the Junior Presentation at Little Lever C.C. on Monday 6th December. Clubs are asked to collect the money before the evening. All tickets ordered must be paid for.

It was agreed anyone wishing to speak to the League Committee about sponsorship or sales should initially put their proposals in writing to the Sponsorship Sub-Committee.

Date of September Meeting and AGM: 13th December.
