WARBURTONS BOLTON CRICKET LEAGUE

MINUTES OF THE GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING

HELD AT BRADSHAW C.C.

13th DECEMBER

Apologies: Derek Kay.

Minutes of the November Meeting: These had been circulated and were approved as a correct record.

Matters Arising: The County had been unable to arrange an alternative date for the inter-league indoor final.

The Secretary will take up the distribution of the LCB News with the LCB.

Money is still owed by the following clubs; Astley Bridge, Farnworth, FSC, Greenmount, Heaton, Horwich, Tonge and Walkden.

Clubs should let Karen Knott have details of anyone interested in the scorers’ course.

From information received to date it appears only league appointed umpires or umpires having an otherwise significant or regular contact with children require a CRB check, however occasional umpires must have completed a self-certification form before play commences. There was a parallel in a recent Bolton Evening News item where adults playing Father Christmas on a regular basis require a CRB check but those for ‘one-off’ events do not.

Clubs are reminded to let Peter Stafford have their averages, and Rod Sandiford their cricket ball requirements.

A pub in Bolton is being prosecuted for not having the correct music licence. Clubs are advised to check their requirement when they renew their alcohol licence. Following contradictory advice on licensing, Little Lever have contacted their M.P.

Correspondence: Details of the Bolton Sports Awards 2004 can be obtained from Natalie.woodford@bolton.gov.uk

Clubs had been e-mailed details Natwest Cricket Force.

Child Protection: The new ECB phone number is 020 74321239. The following must be achieved by 1st April 2005;

All ECB affiliated clubs and Leagues must adopt the ECB ‘Safe Hands – Welfare of Young People in Cricket’ policy.

All Clubs must appoint a Welfare Officer.

All coaches, umpires, scorers and any other person within the club who has regular or significant contact with children must have completed a satisfactory Criminal Records Bureau check.

In order to assist clubs, the League Welfare Officer and assistants have complies a comprehensive guide, which was explained and distributed at the meeting.

Clubs can have CRB forms signed off at Bradshaw C.C. from 7pm on 24th January and 6th March.

The county, not the League, should hear cases of abuse, including verbal, against children.

Any Other Business: The Chairman thanked all involved with the Junior Presentation.
