AXFORDS BOLTON CRICKET LEAGUE

MINUTES OF THE GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING AND CONTINUED A.G.M.

HELD AT BRADSHAW C.C. - 27th FEBRUARY 2006

Apologies: Mike Hall, Farnworth S.C.

Minutes of the January Meeting: These had been circulated previously, and were agreed by the Committee to be a true record of proceedings.

Matters Arising: The funding of the Bolton Cricket Website was discussed. The benefits to local cricket were discussed, but there was concern expressed that it would be seen as an “official” Bolton League website if the League were to fund it. There are already some adverts on the site. The Chairman asked that further discussion be held over until the next meeting.

Sub-Committees: Clubs had decided which individuals from their club was most suited to the sub-committee they had been allocated. Other sub-committees were the same as 2005.

Correspondence: A 3D Sports Brochure was passed around the meeting. Other information regarding funding from Serco (www.serco.com), Clubnet (www.clubnet.org.uk), had been e-mailed to clubs previously.

Information concerning Cricket Force 2006 (ecb.co.uk/cricketforce) was given to clubs at the meeting.

Comedy and Curry nights can be booked through Geoff Cropper on 07780 504724.

Paul Rayment will be running Fantasy Cricket for the Bolton League (www.boltoncricket.co.uk).

Finance: There is £2600 in the Bank, with £6000 held for junior coaching, although this figure does include funds already committed. There is still a possibility that our sponsorship can be ‘sportsmatched’ for development. A sub-committee of May Barlow, Mike Buckley and Bill Stevenson was set up to look into this.

Umpires: An Umpires/Captains meeting has been provisionally arranged for 7.30pm on Wednesday 19th April at Little Lever C.C. The R&C Committee have also been asked to call a meeting to include a number of first and second team captains, and umpires to look into an informal agreement on the definition of a wide.

Note: The definition in the National KO is “For guidance purposes a leg side wide shall be called if a ball passes on the leg side outside the pads of the batsman standing in a normal guard position.”

Indoor K.O.: Kearsley were congratulated on reaching the North of England final.

Karen Knott was given permission by the League to book Little Lever S.C. should there not be any other suitable venue.

Juniors: Egerton and Kearsley missed the last meeting. Minutes of the meeting and the Coaching Committee meeting have been circulated.

The draft junior fixtures were approved.

Registrations: There has been one transfer, J. Rayner (FSC to Farnworth).

The registration form will be sent out with these minutes, and should if possible be e-mailed back to ron.fallows@virgin.net. There is still uncertainty if players have to be self-certificated, so clubs are asked to include this information.

Handbook: Peter Stafford will be contacting clubs who have still not sent details of their club officials. Players’ names will not be put on junior team photographs.

Discipline: New Chairman Tony Hayes told the Committee he had met with the Umpires’ Association, and looked at the Disciplinary procedures in other leagues. After a further meeting with his colleagues, guidelines will be discussed and clubs will know what type of punishment to expect for a number of offences, and will be given the opportunity to take action themselves.

Grounds: There is a Groundsman’s Information day at Middleton C.C. on 25th March, and courses at the same venue in Spring and Autumn. The next Groundsman’s meeting is at Bradshaw C.C. 7pm 6th March.

Date of Next Meetings: 27th March (at BCC) and 20th April (at FSC).
