AXFORDS BOLTON CRICKET LEAGUE

MINUTES OF THE GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING

HELD AT FARNWORTH S.C.C.C.

20th APRIL 2006

A minute’s silence was held in respect of Harry Coupe from Bradshaw C.C.

Apologies: None. All clubs and officials attended.

Minutes of the March Meeting: These had been circulated previously and were agreed to be a correct record.

Matters Arising: May Barlow re-iterated the Sponsorship from Axfords could not be “Sportsmatched”.

The Indoor KO will be played at Bolton School on 7th, 14th 21st and 28th January 2007, matches commencing at 11am.

Correspondence: Clubs should have received correspondence concerning Volunteer Co-Coordinators.

Mann Broadbent Personal Accident Insurance was passed to the Treasurer. Clubs who had not provided the Treasurer with evidence of Public Liability Insurance (Rule 9) by 28th April will be fined £25.

The ECB update had been e-mailed to clubs.

Ground Inspection Report: On behalf of the Ground Committee, Mr Morris said that while Farnworth was in excellent condition, and Westhoughton much improved, Tonge’s outfield was a disgrace and had only just had its first cut since the end of last season. However, the grass was still too long to play cricket.

Mr Morris recommended the season, including junior fixtures, be put back until 29th April. This required a unanimous vote, which at first was not forthcoming. However after further discussion all clubs agreed not to oppose the decision to re-schedule the match from 23rd April.

A decision when to replay the matches will be taken at the June meeting. Prior to this the Secretary will inform clubs of the options.

The Committee agreed that in future the season should begin and end one week later.

Finance: The Treasurer reported a bank balance of £3100. There is £4200 in the Junior / Coaching funds.

Umpires: Notes from the Umpires’ / Captains’ Meeting have been e-mailed or will be posted to clubs. Bradshaw, Greenmount, Heaton and Kearsley did not have the required representation at the meeting and will be fined. Captains were given the April Newsletter at the meeting, along with the Umpire Report Cards. The cards have second-class stamps, and allowance may be given for the late arrival of cards provided they were posted within a reasonable time.

The meeting also covered Discipline and the new Rules.

A ballot is to be made of ACU&S members to see if they wish to join the ECB.
