MINUTES OF THE GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING

 

HELD AT BRADSHAW C.C.

 

30th OCTOBER 2006

 

 

 

Apologies: Mike Hall. Astley Bridge and Eagley were not represented. The Chairman welcomed back the President.

 

Minutes of the August Meeting: These had been circulated previously and were agreed to be a correct record.

 

Matters Arising: The dispute between the LCB and ourselves will be aired at a meeting at Old Trafford on 11th January.

 

Correspondence: Information regarding the welfare of young players and overseas players, interest free loans, Cricketforce, club development planning and ClubNet had been forwarded to clubs via E-mail.

The President has written to the Committee proposing Colin Davies as a Vice-President. There is one other vacancy and the Secretary should receive nominations no later than the November meeting for a decision to be made at the AGM.

Literature from Ram International regarding sponsorship and cricket balls will be given to Rod Sandiford.

 

Finance: The Treasurer reported a bank balance of £3200, with £838 outstanding from the clubs.

 

Umpires: A decision about the future if the ACU&S will be made in the next 48 hours.

Clubs are asked to display a poster giving details of an umpires’ course starting 9th January at Astley Bridge and a scorers’ course on 7th February. Scorers from Bolton League clubs and umpires becoming members of the Bolton League Umpires Association can reclaim fees.

Clubs interested in sending anyone to an Introduction to Umpiring course in April should contact Karen Knott or David Heap. The courses will be held at two venues and be of three hours duration.

Bolton School require nominated first aiders, proof of insurance and a risk assessment to be carried out before the Axford Indoor KO in January. Bradshaw offered to cover two of the days with someone with a first aid certificate. Other clubs will be asked to volunteer when the draw has been made.

 

Juniors: Proposed Amendments to Rule are enclosed / attached with these minutes. The Junior AGM is at Astley Bridge C.C. at 7.30pm on 16th November. Voting forms require the signature of the Junior Rep or their deputy and a club official. A nomination form for junior officials was sent out with the minutes of the last meeting.

The Junior Presentation will be at Horwich RMI Club on 23rd November. 

 

Disciplinary Report: Tony Hayes has been asked to have a full report prepared for the AGM covering all disciplinary action taken.

 

Inter-League Report: The Bolton League are at home to the Lancs County League on 10th June, away to the Ribblesdale League or Bolton Association in the Semi-Final on 8th July and away in the final on 12th August.

The Under 18s are in the same group as the Saddleworth and Central Lancs Leagues and Manchester Association. The final will be at a ground from this group. Helmets are compulsory in the competition.

JW Lees have taken over as sponsors of the competition, with a sponsorship of £4000 a year for 3 years.

 

LCB: All clubs should have a Fire Officer and carry out a fire risk assessment.

Bolton Metropolitan League will be playing their matches on a Sunday.

There is a Time to Listen course at Old Trafford on 30th November for Welfare Officers. Clubs should contact Tony Potter for further details.

 

Averages: Clubs should let Peter Stafford have their first and second team averages as quickly as possible, including Hamer and Birtwistle cup matches.

 

League Dinner: A number of complaints had been received from clubs and officials about the awarding of the Professionals’ Prize to Usman Tariq rather than Adil Nisar, however the Committee decided to back the Umpires’ decision. The method of awarding of the prize will be reviewed at a later date.

Greenmount and Kearsley share the second team Special Competition.

Sunday night is the latest for requesting / cancelling Dinner tickets. After this clubs may have to pay for tickets booked unless another club requires the tickets. Clubs are asked to pay their money on the night. Additional raffle prizes are very welcome.

Smoking is banned in the Town Hall.

Captains of the winning sides are asked to be there by 7.30pm for photographs.
