ANTHONY AXFORD BOLTON CRICKET LEAGUE

MINUTES FROM THE CONTINUED AGM

15th JANUARY 2007

Apologies: The umpires (the meeting co-incided with their AGM), The Secretary said his comments and vote would reflect the Umpires’ view. Eagley, Farnworth, Kearsley and Westhoughton did not attend.

Correspondence: Before the meeting commenced the Secretary brought to the attention of the Committee a number of issues, which required action before the next scheduled League Meeting.

The Committee agreed the League should pay the £10 fee per club to the Lancashire Groundsmans’ Association. Their AGM is at Haydock C.C. at 7.30pm 6th February.

The next meeting of the Bolton Cricket Development Group is at the Bolton Arena on 24th January.

The Secretary has information from Mann Broadbent Limited regarding insurance.

Bolton District Cricket trials are being held at Bolton Indians Sports Club, U13 - 29th January, 5th February, U15 – 12th and 19th February. For further information contact Tony Boardman on 07719566125.

Clubs had previously been e-mailed extracts from various documents regarding funding.

Clubs were reminded that the appointment of sub-committees will be made at the next meeting, and clubs should consider which committee they wish to be represented on.

Rule 26(c): The Secretary explained that he had written to clubs the day after the AGM when he realised that two similar but conflicting proposals had received a two-thirds majority. As had been the case with conflicting rules at the junior AGM it was agreed that a further vote would have to take place with the more popular proposal taking precedence.

A discussion took place on the pros and cons of the two proposals.

It was accepted by the Committee that there was an error in the way the proposal for 1pm starts was phrased, but as the intent of the proposal had been made clear at previous meetings it was agreed that if that proposal was the more popular it should become a Rule in the form of the received written proposal.

A vote was taken on the proposal that matches commence at 1pm, with clubs having two votes as per AGM rules. This was defeated by 17 votes to 10. As with all Bolton League meetings abstentions were not included in the vote.

The proposal that matches commence at 12.30pm in September did not have any opposition so will be incorporated into our rules.

Date of Nest League Meeting: 29th January.
