MINUTES OF THE GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING

 

HELD AT BRADSHAW C.C.

 

26th FEBRUARY 2007

 

 

 

A minute’s silence was held in respect of Christopher Burgess of Kearsley C.C.

 

Apologies: None. All clubs were represented and all officials in attendance.

 

Minutes of the January Meeting: These had been circulated and were agreed to be a correct record of proceedings.

 

Matters Arising: The Lancs KO final will be held at Liverpool C.C. on Sunday 2nd September. If a Bolton League team are involved, the League programme will be played on 9th September.

The LCB agreed to pay Kearsley’s Indoor Facility fees and umpires.

Kearsley are in the Area finals at Headingly at 1pm on Sunday 3rd March

It was agreed Bolton School should be booked the last three Sundays in January and the first in February for the Axford Indoor KO 2008.

Further enquiries would be made into the appointment of a new League Statistician.

 

Correspondence: Details of “Valueworks” a purchasing organisation had been e-mailed to clubs. A copy was passed to the Chairman for further consideration by our Sponsorship Sub-Committee.

Clubs in the Bolton Area had received a copy of “Sources of Grant Aid and Funding for Clubs”. Walkden and Greenmount were asked to contact the Secretary if they did not receive copies in due course.

A Rigby Taylor price list had been e-mailed to clubs.

Details of “Cricketforce” had been e-mailed to clubs.

The Committee agreed a letter of support could be sent to Westhoughton C.C. if the club decided to relocate.

Clubs were strongly advised to obtain receipts for all payments.

 

Finance: The Treasurer reported a bank balance of £2200. There is £10,500 in the Coaching Account. £186 is outstanding from clubs.

The Committee turned down a request from Walkden C.C. to waive a recently imposed surcharge, as the surcharge forms part of our rules and other clubs have had to pay it in the past.

Farnworth, Little Lever and Tonge should let the Treasurer have payment for cricket balls by 28th February.

 

Umpires: There had been a dramatic drop in attendance at the Scorers’ Course.

The Umpires / captains meeting will be held at Bradshaw C.C. on 19th April, when there will be a presentation covering the new rules. It is recommended that scorers attend as well. A limited supply of umpires’ marking forms will be distributed at the meeting, and further forms will be made available on a monthly basis at league meetings. A meeting will be arranged to discuss alternative means of submitting the information. When an umpire receives an adverse mark, a reason should be given.

 

Juniors: Coaching pamphlets were distributed.

The revised Under 11s fixtures had been sent out with the minutes.

The Junior Committee had advised that players under 11 should not play senior cricket, but final decisions would be made in accordance with ECB guidelines.

Junior Inter-League trials will commence 19th March. There is a wicket-keepers course on 30th March.

There are limited places available on a Child Protection course on 13th March.

 

Ground Report: There is to be a revised system with senior players or club members sending the marks.

 

Registration Report: A proposal that the R&C Committee should be responsible for accepting professionals not in possession of a work permit, including UK based professionals or professionals with a valid passport, was defeated by a proposal that the League Committee should make the decision. The Secretary was concerned that there is no appeal process if a professional is turned down. Eagley, Farnworth S.C. and Horwich were asked to provide figures for their prospective professionals at the March meeting.

 

Handbook: Peter Stafford requires the following information; scorecards for the Birtwistle Cup and junior cup finals, junior team managers and phone numbers, captains, photographs of Tonge’s first team, FSC’s second, Luke Perry (with parental consent), and junior trophy winning teams, details of Tonge’s Lyddon Cup and Farnworth, Kearsley and Little Lever’s progress in the Lancs KO.

 

LCB A.G.M.: This was held on 22nd February. Changes to player qualification for the Lancs KO had been ratified. Leyland Motors C.C. had folded.

 

Any Other Business: Greenmount C.C. will be no smoking from 1st April.
