MINUTES OF THE GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING

 

HELD AT BRADSHAW C.C.

 

20th AUGUST 2007

Minutes of the July Meeting: These had been circulated and were approved as a correct record.

 

Matters Arising: The matches between Farnworth S.C. and Greenmount are to be played on Sunday 26th August at 1pm, the ‘Starred’ player rule does not apply to this match.

League matches will start at 1pm on 25th August and 12.30pm in September.

Deliberations are continuing into the Under 18s inter-league match at Westhoughton.

The Chairman congratulated Greenmount on winning the Hamer Cup and Bradshaw on winning the Birtwistle Cup. Heaton were thanked for successfully staging the former.

 

Correspondence: The Lancashire Groundsman’s Association meet at Middleton C.C. on 28th August at 6.30pm. All clubs are entitled to attend.

A Brochure from Surridge Cricket Balls and Equipment was passed around the meeting.

Westhoughton are to send a letter to the Secretary in relation to the 1st team match at Tonge last Saturday.

 

Finance: Cash at bank £5012, coaching fund £7220. £834 is outstanding in fines, but most of this has been invoiced only in the past week.

 

Umpires: The Secretary said the last paragraph of Rule 35 covered variations to the number of overs played in Hamer and Birtwistle Cup matches.

Rule 26(f)ii was discussed in relation to the last hour; A proposed amendment to rule covering this has been put forward.

Late starts should be reported to the League Secretary (Rule 26l).

It was agreed mementoes should have been presented to the umpires at the Hamer Cup Final.

 

Juniors: Westhoughton are Under 18 champions. The Jake Tatlock final will be between Kearsley and Horwich on 2nd September. Horwich are Under 15 champions. The Mervyn Porter final will be between Horwich and Kearsley at 4pm on 3rd September. There will be a play off for the Under 13 championship between Horwich and Bradshaw. Horwich beat Farnworth S.C. in the Harrison cup final.

Teams qualifying for the Under 11 Walkden tournament must pay a deposit of £50.

Richard Dearden requires nominations as soon as possible for LCB trials.

Proposed amendments to junior rules have been circulated.

The next junior meeting is on 20th September.

Mrs Barlow explained the Barlow Cup had not been played this year because of the weather and Little Lever’s pitch.

 

Registrations: Several clubs have been fined for failing to fulfil junior fixtures.

The Committee agreed without dissent that Darren Wilson could replace Andy Taylor as one of Horwich’s ‘Starred’ players until the end of the season.

 

Inter League: The League play the Association for the Axford Trophy on Bank Holiday Monday. If affected by the weather the match will be played to the Association run-rate rules, which are similar to ours but far more complex.

The Central Lancs League are unable to raise a team to play the second team inter-league fixture.

 

Prize Claim Meeting: This will be at Bradshaw C.C. on 1st October. All clubs must attend and return trophies on the night.

 

Proposed Amendments to Rule: A small number have been e-mailed to clubs, and will also be included with the mailed minutes. The meeting on the 24th September will start at 7.30pm, and then from 8pm clubs will be permitted up to four attendees to discuss amendments to rule and other issues relating to the rules.

 

Any Other Business: The Committee gave Greenmount their best wished for the Lancs KO final.

The Committee agreed a secure place should be found for the safekeeping of the Hamer Cup.
