ANTHONY AXFORD BOLTON CRICKET LEAGUE

MINUTES OF THE GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING

HELD AT BRADSHAW C.C.

24th SEPTEMBER 2007

Apologies; Mike Hall, Tony Hayes, Eric Smith and Peter Stafford. Westhoughton were not represented.

Minutes of the August Meeting; These had been circulated and were agreed to be a correct record.

Matters Arising; The R&C Committee are awaiting a response from Westhoughton C.C. about the Under 18 inter-league match.

Legal Update; The Secretary confirmed he had received a letter from solicitors representing Brenton Parchment and Farnworth C.C. Solicitors representing the Bolton League will acknowledge the letter. The Treasurer has been in touch with our insurers about the possibility of us having legal expenses cover. In response to a question from Mr. Morris the Committee generally felt that it would not be in our interests to have every item of correspondence read out at league meetings, however the Secretary assured the Committee he would provide updates at each league meeting, and by email when appropriate

Mrs Morris asked about the progress of an adjourned R&C meeting to deal with a complaint from Bradshaw C.C. about Mr. Parchment continuing to play while banned. The Secretary said Mr. Hall had been away but would be in touch with Farnworth C.C. as soon as possible.

Mr. Hutchinson made a point about the original disciplinary procedure.

Professionals Prize; The Umpires’ Association said that following criticism of their decision last year they no longer wanted to be responsible for this award. It was agreed clubs at the prize claim meeting should make the decision. A vote that club captains make the decision was defeated.

Hubert Pendlebury Award; The Secretary asked that nominations be sent to him before the prize claim meeting on 1st October.

League Dinner; Clubs were reminded this would be held at Horwich RMI on 2nd November. Nominations for a Dinner sub-committee included David Morris, Eric Smith and Jim Hickey from the BRSA Club.

Junior Presentation; This will be held at the same venue on 8th November.

Prize Claim Meeting; This will be held at Bradshaw C.C. at 7.45pm on Monday 1st October. Clubs failing to attend or not bringing scorebooks will be fined £100. Clubs must return all senior and junior trophies on the night. The Axford Cup has been damaged while in the possession of the Bolton League.

Any Other Business; May Barlow stressed the importance of local licensing meetings and suggested anyone who wishes to attend should contact her for details.

Date of Next Meeting; 29th October.

Amendments to Rule; After the Chairman closed the meeting there was a discussion about proposed amendments to rule, which had been emailed to clubs previously and were also available on the night. In addition to the Committee, there were three attendees from Little Lever, two from Tonge and one each from the Umpires’ Association, Farnworth S.C. and Greenmount.

If there was a consensus of opinion that a proposal required a slight modification, this would be made by the Secretary and clubs notified of the change.

Any new proposals, or ideas should be sent or emailed to the Secretary before 29th October.
