MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING

 

AT BRADSHAW C.C.

 

10th JULY 2008

 

 

 

Apologies; Tony Hayes. Absent, Eagley, Egerton, Kearsley, Little Lever, Walkden, Junior Secretary and Umpires Representative.

 

Westhoughton C.C: The Committee were shown plans of the new ground at The Hoskers. It was agreed the Committee should give formal approval subject to certain conditions being met.

 

Birtwistle Cup Semi Final: The Secretary and Steven Dalton explained the present situation to the Committee regarding the Farnworth v Kearsley semi-final. It was agreed Rule 35 had to be followed and the match should start at 6.15pm Monday 14th July unless alternative arrangements were made by mutual agreement.

Tonge and Farnworth will play their Hamer Cup semi final on 18th or 20th July, and

Bradshaw and Heaton will play their Birtwistle Cup match on 20th July.

 

Greenmount v Astley Bridge: Andy Bowker explained Greenmount were due to stage the North Manchester 1st Division Cup Final on 31st August and said Astley Bridge were agreeable to play on the original date for their league fixture, 20th July, provided it was not required for the Lancs KO. After some discussion about the advisability of rearranging Bolton League matches it was agreed the match could be played on 20th provided; if the match was not started due to the weather it would be played on 31st, and if no matches were played to a conclusion on 31st Greenmount and Astley Bridge would receive two points each irrespective of the previous outcome.

 

Astley Bridge: Ron Fallows explained efforts to install a non-turf pitch had been thwarted by the weather so far, but it was anticipated the ground would be fit by Saturday. The Ground Committee will inspect on Friday evening.

 

Rule 27: The Committee agreed bonus points could not be awarded to either side if a team conceded the match.

 

Rule 26: The Committee agreed that even if time was available in a weather-affected match, the number of overs remaining following a deduction in the second innings could not be exceeded.
