ANTHONY AXFORD BOLTON CRICKET LEAGUE

MINUTES OF THE GENERAL COMMITTEE EETING

HELD AT BRADSHAW C.C.

19th APRIL 2010

Apologies; The President who was at an LCB meeting, the Treasurer who was unable to get a flight home and the Junior Secretary. All clubs were represented.

Minutes of the March Meeting; These had been circulated previously and were agreed to be a true record.

Matters Arising; Farnworth were fined £50 for failing to return their Child Welfare documentation.

There will be further discussions between the League and Association about 20/20 inter league matches.

Correspondence; The Secretary distributed ‘diversity’ forms from Bolton Council.

The Secretary read a letter from Andy Hayhurst regarding the LCB Colts team (attached for reference). The Committee agreed on the form of the response. The dates of the matches are; Sun 25 Apr, Mon 3 May (date of U18 final v CLL from 2009), Sat 8 May, Sat 22 May, Sat 29 May, Sun 11 Jun (Inter League), Sun 20 Jun (Hamer Cup), Sun 27 Jun, Sun 18 Jul, Sun 1 Aug (Hamer Cup), Mon 30 Aug and Sat 4 Sep.

Finance; The Secretary will check with the Treasurer on his return, but it seems all clubs have produced evidence of public liability insurance.

Registrations and Professionals; Clubs were reminded the final date for pre season registrations is Friday 23rd April 9pm. This deadline also applies to updated player lists.

The following players have been transferred; U Patel (Astley Bridge to Horwich), S Collins (FSC to Farnworth), S Leeth (Greenmount to Tonge), M Ashworth (FSC to Little Lever).

Farnworth’s professional has been re-graded 2. Astley Bridge’s professional is 1, Bradshaw, Egerton and Kearsley’s are 2.

Tonge’s application to register a player as professional was defeated and a proposal that they be permitted to play without professional for 2010 would not have obtained unanimous support for the clubs. Tonge will now play with grade 1 deputies until a professional is engaged.

The Committee agreed more precise figures should be given to provide a guide to the standard of professional that is acceptable to the League.

Little Lever first and second team players are currently stranded in Majorca.

Umpires / Captains Meeting; Attendance was acceptable and no club will be fined.

Captains should indicate if they disagree with the score to win displayed on the scoreboard when a match is affected by the weather. If agreement is not reached umpires must note a captain disagrees with their calculation and play will proceed. The R&C Committee will not be inclined to support protests made after the match if a captain or his deputy have not brought perceived irregularities to the attention of the umpires at the time they occur.

The matches this Sunday commence at 1pm. Clubs must provide a chain or similar so umpires can verify the length of the wicket.

Matches cannot end in a tie. The score in the calculation / printed tables is the score to win. Anything less including fractions of a run is a defeat.

Juniors; The next meeting is at Astley Bridge on 22nd April. The possibility of submitting results via the boltoncricket website will be on the agenda.

Ground Inspection; Ten grounds are in excellent condition. Three have work in progress and Little Lever is just acceptable. Sunday’s umpires have been asked to make a report if necessary.

Clubs have been given a Ground Report from the Inspection Committee, and copies have been passed to the League Secretary.

Handbook; 40 copies were given to each club plus two copies for this weekend’s umpires.

The junior fixtures are difficult to read, but the Secretary explained this was the best he could manage with the technology available.

Due to the time restrictions some club records may not have been updated fully. If clubs can bring omissions to the notice of the Secretary they can be rectified in the 2011 Handbook.

Admin; Scores can now be submitted via www.boltoncricket.co.uk. There are examples of full scorecards, which in the case of first teams must be submitted by Tuesday evening, and an example of the basic information, which must be provided for first and second teams by 10.30am the morning after the match.

There is also an example of an umpires’ report, which must be submitted by the Thursday evening after the match, but these will be confidential to Malcolm Kinder and not displayed in future.

All clubs have been issued with a password.

Date of Next Meeting; 24th May.
