ANTHONY AXFORD BOLTON CRICKET LEAGUE

MINUTES OF THE GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING

HELD AT BRADSHAW C.C.

29th NOVEMBER 2010

Minutes Silence: The Committee stood in remembrance of Bill Stevenson of Eagley C.C. and former League Treasurer, and Stan Smith of Blackrod C.C. and former Bolton League umpire. A note of thanks from Bill’s widow Trish was read to the Committee.

Apologies: The Treasurer. All other clubs and officials attended.

Minutes of the October Meeting: These had been circulated previously and were agreed to be a true record of proceedings.

Matters Arising: As the draw for the National KO has not been made, clubs should play the first round as per our fixtures, or on a date when the Bolton League don’t have a fixture.

Finance: The Secretary read the amounts owing by clubs. These had been emailed previously.

The Chairman said Walkden had given him a cheque for the League Presentation. The £100 fee for junior coaching relates to the 2010 season.

Farnworth still owe £50 from before the start of the season. The club had been re-invoiced before the October meeting.

30th Jan 11am Semi, 12.15pm Semi, 1.30pm Final

Teams will bowl from one end.

Players and spectators must not leave litter.

Clubs were given a copy of the draw and match day instructions.

Juniors: All three proposals gained a two-thirds majority at the Junior AGM and will require ratification at the Senior AGM.

R&C Report: There are two transfers pending but Ron Fallows made the point that the transfer form must be completed and signed by the club the player is leaving before he can accept the form. David Morris said Steve Dalton is no longer authorised to sign the forms on Farnworth’s behalf. Only Martin Axford and David Morris Junior can do this.

League Presentation: The Chairman said he had responded to correspondence and apologised to the Umpires for not mentioning their trophy recipients at the Presentation. He went on to thank Little Lever C.C. for staging the evening and arranging the buffet, although this was criticised by David Morris. There had been a reasonable turn out of over 160, but he was disappointed at the representation from some clubs and the number of absentee trophy winners. Tonge were given a special mention for the number of their attendees.

Suggestions for future presentations ranged from a joint AGM and presentation evening at a club, to a return to formal dinner with speaker at a larger venue. The possibility of clubs taking a minimum number of tickets was also mentioned.

Handbook 2011: Clubs should let the Secretary know if there are any changes to their officials, or if they have any team photographs.

The Chairman asked if clubs could submit around 500 words reviewing 2010 and outlining their plans for 2011 and beyond.

Cricket Balls: Chris Monks will be in touch with clubs. David Morris offered to assist Chris.
