ANTHONY AXFORD BOLTON CRICKET LEAGUE

MINUTES OF THE GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING

HELD AT BRADSHAW C.C.

18th APRIL 2010

Minute’s Silence: A minute’s silence was held in memory of Denis Hobson (Bradshaw C.C.) and Elsie Waterworth (Egerton C.C.).

Apologies: The President. Heaton and Kearsley were not represented.

Minutes of the March Meeting: These had been circulated and were approved as a correct record after the following amendment was made. The minute relating to Rule 26(f) ii was replaced by “Should the 25 overs minimum be reduced in the second innings due to the weather or light, the match shall not be abandoned until the time reduces the overs to nil, or until one of the teams bowls the opposition out or passes the score of the opposition in less than 25 overs. The minimum score to be passed in the second innings must always be that as recalculated for 25 overs. It must remain at that recalculated score even if there are less than 25 overs in the second innings.”

Umpires need only recalculate the score when play is about to be resumed or when play is abandoned.

Correspondence: Information relating to EasyFantasyCricket.Com, Clubnet Bookings, www.groupay.co.uk, and the LCB OSCA’s had been emailed to clubs.

It appears that Farnworth have arranged a Lancs KO match on 2nd May when they are also due to play in the Lyddon Trophy at Astley Bridge. Hopefully they will be able to raise two teams.

The Inter League senior team will play the Saddleworth League at Moorside C.C. on 12th June. On the same date the Under 18 team play the North Lancs League at Hawcot C.C.

Venues are required for the U18 matches against the Manchester Association on 10th July and against the Lancs County League on 14th August.

Juniors: The R&C Committee have decided that on the first two occasions a junior team fail to fulfil a fixture they will receive a letter outlining the further consequences. For the third and all subsequent offences the club will be fined £30.

The Junior Committee have requested that in future Lyddon Cup matches are not arranged on grounds when junior fixtures are already scheduled to be played there.

Clubs have been asked to start their Under 13 matches as near to 9.30am as possible on 1st May. The over in play at 12.30pm must be the final one for the junior game. Senior players and officials are not allowed in the changing rooms until all the juniors have left.

Heaton C.C. were not represented at the junior meeting.

Finance: There is £1560 in the current account. £1660 has been paid for junior cricket balls. The Treasurer read out a list of clubs who still owe for these, and the clubs who have still not produced proof of public liability insurance.

A new ball will be trialed in the first round of the Hamer Cup, and if it is satisfactory will be used in the subsequent rounds. The Treasurer would appreciate feedback from umpires and captains. In the first round and whenever necessary after the Reader ball should be used as the second ball. The Reader ball should still be used in the Birtwistle Cup.

Umpires: Horwich first team were not represented at the Umpires / Captains meeting, where the new Laws were covered.

Professional and Registrations: Heaton’s professional will not be available for the start of the season, but they intend to register a grade 2 professional before the start of the season.

I Patel has transferred from Walkden to Tonge.

Egerton, Farnworth S.C., Heaton, Horwich and Walkden had not submitted their updated player lists to Ron Fallows. Clubs will be fined £25 if these are not received before the start of the season. Any club fielding an illegible or unregistered player will incur an automatic maximum points deduction (Rule 7c).

Handbook: Clubs were given 45 copies including two for the umpires standing at this weekend’s matches.

The recommended selling price is £2.50 per book, although many clubs include the cost of a book in their players’ subscriptions.

Could clubs please let the Secretary or Junior Secretary know of any errors or omissions?

On the Tonge page the phone numbers for first and second team captains have been transposed.

Thanks to Stuart Leigh from Horwich C.C. who has loaded our senior fixtures onto Play-Cricket.

Ground Inspection: The scoreboards at Astley Bridge, Farnworth and Little Lever do not show ‘Score to Win’. If this is not rectified by the first match of the season the umpires should inform Graham Waterworth.

The Fast Bowling Directives are not displayed in the changing rooms at Kearsley and Heaton. The latter also need to check their first aid provisions.

Some attention is required to the outfields at Egerton, Eagley, Horwich and Tonge, where the artificial pitch could be a hazard.

Bradshaw have to ensure their umpires’ changing facilities are ‘fit for purpose’.

Generally the grounds are in better condition than they have been for several years at this stage of the season.

Child Welfare: Farnworth S.C., Heaton, Kearsley and Westhoughton should return their Child Welfare information to Mike Buckley before weekend to avoid a £10 fine.

Date of Next Meeting: 23rd May.
