ANTHONY AXFORD BOLTON CRICKET LEAGUE

MINUTES OF THE GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING

HELD AT TONGE C.C.

27th FEBRUARY 2012

Apologies: Mike Buckley, Heaton C.C. and Kearsley C.C.

Minute’s Silence: The Committee stood in memory of George Tildsley and Joe Davies, both Farnworth Social Circle.

Minutes of the January Meeting:  The minutes had been circulated previously and were agreed to be a correct record by the Committee.

Matters Arising: The Committee ratified the proposal put forward at the January meeting relating to power plays in cup matches, but agreed they be dispensed with in matches of less than twenty overs.

The Treasurer will look into fines levied on Astley Bridge last season for non-submission of match cards.

Twelve clubs have entered the Lyddon Trophy. The draw will be made and published in the Handbook.

Election of Vice Chairman of Committee: There were two candidates; Frank Hinks and Derek Kay. Mr Kay was elected after a ballot.

Correspondence: Clubs had previously been emailed information regarding the Groundsmans Association AGM at Haydock C.C., visas for overseas players, overseas players wishing to play cricket in the area and an update on HMRC and coaches. The Secretary distributed leaflets advertising ‘A Night at the Races’.

Finance: The Treasurer reported a balance of £2266 in the current account, after paying an insurance premium of £957. Substantial funds are still outstanding from clubs in respect of junior and senior presentation invoices raised in 2011. Clubs were handed current statements including senior cricket balls. The Chairman said outstanding debts to the League must be paid before clubs take possession of the balls. Cheques for the balls should be made payable to Bolton Cricket League and must be paid before 31st March.

There is £1810 in the savings account and £920 in the legal fund.

Apart from the £2563 in the junior account, £1100 is outstanding from the senior account. This will be transferred once all accounts are paid by the clubs.

Umpires: David Heap gave an update on the umpires’ course. The umpires are running a one day course from 10am to 3pm on 25th March.

There is an Introduction to Scoring course at Astley Bridge on 13th Match, and a Level 1 scorers’ course for four weeks at the same venue from 20th March. The League will pay the course fees. Scorers have until 31st March to apply for ECB grading.

The Umpires / Captains meeting will be held at Farnworth S.C. at 7.30pm on Wednesday 11th April. Clubs will be fined if the captain, vice-captain or a senior player from the first and second teams do not attend.

R&C Report: Clubs who have not already done so should email the name of their professional to Ron Fallows, and to Mike Buckley for the Handbook. C Rushmore and R Mahmood have transferred from Farnworth S.C. to Little Lever and Paul Rayment from Farnworth to Eagley.

Handbook: Clubs should send amendments to their officials and junior team managers to the Secretary or Mike Buckley; otherwise it will be assumed there is no change.

Club reports are still required from; Astley Bridge, Egerton, Farnworth, Farnworth S.C., Tonge and Walkden.

The final date for submissions is 16th March.

Dates of Meetings: 26th March, 16th April, 28th May.

Note: After future meetings and at the Chairman’s discretion there may be discussions about specific topics relating directly to cricket. There will be a time limit on the discussions.  Representatives are under no obligation to remain and there will be no votes taken or decisions made, however items may be put on a formal agenda for future meetings.

If there is sufficient time, covers will be discussed after the March meeting.
