BOLTON CRICKET LEAGUE

MINURES OF THE GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING

TONGE C.C.

29th OCTOBER 2012

Apologies; Farnworth S.C. Greenmount, Kearsley and the Treasurer.

Minute’s Silence; Held in respect of Harry Pilling (Lancs C.C.C.) and Jack Fairclough (Egerton C.C.).

Minutes of the September Meeting; There had been circulated and were agreed to be a correct record.

Matters Arising; It was assumed the matter between Westhoughton and Walkden had been resolved.

The Secretary gave a brief update on the LCB survey.

Play-Cricket; The Committee agreed this should be implemented in season 2013 or 2014. A sub committee comprising Andy Bowker, Tracey Brooks and Stephen Merry was set up to make progress. The Chairman will discuss the impact of Play-Cricket with Paul Rayment.

League Handbook; A decision will be made on the budget and distribution at the November meeting. The Chairman will discuss the possibility of holding the statistics electronically with Paul Rayment.

Correspondence; The Secretary read a letter from Egerton C.C. nominating Mike Hall as Chairman.

The formal nomination form for officials will be distributed at the November meeting.

Finance; There was no report available, but it was agreed that if it is more convenient for the Treasurer, this can be distributed electronically each month.

Umpires; Unless the dates can be changed, the matches will start at 1pm and finish at 4 or 5pm.

Egerton will play in the County finals at Old Trafford on 6th January.

The list of missing umpires’ marks has been re-issued. The response was better overall, but still very poor from Walkden first and second team and Egerton and Heaton second teams. Firmer action will be taken by the R&C Committee next season.

Championship Flag; David Morris was asked to look into the economies of the bulk purchase of flags.

Juniors; Proposed amendments to rules have been distributed. The Secretary has asked clubs to consider carefully the ramifications of the under 18 proposals.

Mike Buckley will reconsider his decision to stand down as Junior Secretary.

The Chairman congratulated Mike on a successful junior presentation.

League Presentation; This will take place at Farnworth C.C. on 9th November 7pm for 7.30pm, with a hot and cold buffet.

Mr Morris will liaise with the Secretary and let clubs know which trophies have not been delivered to Readys on Chorley Old Rd. Clubs will be informed.

Ticket numbers are required by 2nd November.

Discipline; On appeal, the ban placed on a Horwich player was reduced from 6 matches to 4 matches, plus two suspended for the first half of the season.

The Disciplinary Committee are to meet later this month to consider two issues relating to Heaton C.C.

Inter League; Overseas amateurs will be allowed in the competition from 2013.

The Bolton League are away at the Saddleworth League in the first round, and also in the second round at Ribblesdale or Lancashire County League. If we are successful, the final will be at Egerton.

Details of the Under 18 competition are on the boltoncricket website.

It was noted that in the final at Westhoughton the dress code of the Ribblesdale League players was far superior to ours, however it was felt that due to the loss of our sponsor this was not priority expenditure at the present time.

Fixtures 2013; The season will begin on Saturday 27th April. There will be no dates set aside for weather affected programmes.

Amendments to Rules; Recent additions to the proposals were discussed along with new proposals submitted during the meeting.

These have been emailed to clubs.

Date of AGM; 10th December.
