BOLTON CRICKET LEAGUE

81st ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

TONGE C.C.

10th DECEMBER 2012

Apologies: None. All clubs and representatives attended.

Minutes Silence: The Committee stood in silence in memory of all who had died during the previous year.

Minutes of 80th AGM: These had been circulated and approved previously. There were no matters arising.

Chairman’s Report: Mr Milne began by congratulating the main trophy winners, and reiterating his thanks to all who had made the presentation evening a success. In the first team championship two victories by Farnworth over their nearest rivals Greenmount had been a crucial factor, but Farnworth had also reaped the benefits of their ground improvements and covers.

In the wettest summer in memory, groundsmen and assistants had to be congratulated on rescuing so much cricket from the weather, and umpires should be thanked as well for their pragmatic approach when conditions were less than favourable. There will be a certain amount of financial damage, and possibly an adverse impact on junior cricket with so many coaching sessions lost.

Dave Tattersall and Nigel Partington were congratulated on steering the Inter-League team to their fourth trophy in six years, and Horwich and Heaton juniors on becoming Lancashire champions and progressing beyond the County finals.

Overall there had been a slight dip in the standard of first team cricket, and due to increasing international and first class commitments it is unlikely we will see the same standard of professional as in the past.

Umpires were commended for their overall improved performances thanked for organising the sessions and courses with their colleagues and scorers.

Senior and Junior officials were thanked, but the Chairman expressed concern that progress at league meeting was being held back because of political issues.

Disciplinary Review: Mr Hutchinson distributed a summary of the disciplinary action taken in 2012, noting that disciplinary cases were down by over 50%. He thanked the other members of the Disciplinary Committee for their assistance.

Junior Review: Mr Buckley added his to the Chairman’s congratulations to Horwich and Heaton and said he was disappointed at the outcome of the vote pertaining to Under 18 cricket.

Statement of Accounts: This was distributed by the Treasurer, who answered questions.

Ratification of Junior Amendments: The two successful amendments were ratified by the Committee.

Amendments to Rules: The successful amendments were announced and can be found on the Boltoncricket website.
