MINUTES OF THE GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING

Minute’s Silence: The Committee stood in memory of Andrew Hales (Walkden), Arthur Liddell (Astley Bridge), Joe Jagger (Vice President and Bradshaw) and Harold Taylor (Horwich).

Chairman’s Remarks: Mr Hall reiterated what he said at the AGM stressing the Bolton League was about the clubs, their volunteers and representatives not individuals, stating that all members of the Committee would be given an equal opportunity to speak at meetings. He concluded by paying tribute to League Officials past and present.

Election of Vice Chairman:  Mr Kay was re-elected.

Minutes of the December Meeting: These had been circulated and were approved as a correct record.

Matters Arising: Mr Fallows said would be happy for clubs to register players via Play-Cricket, but transfers would have to be conducted in the usual way, with clubs then updating their records. Tracey Brooks said she would arrange a date to assist clubs with Play-Cricket.

The Committee agreed that match against Hyderabad under 25s would be played at Farnworth C.C.

Minutes of the AGM: These had been circulated and were agreed to be a correct record of proceedings. There were no matters arising.

Correspondence: Since the last meeting the Secretary had emailed correspondence from the following;

Cricx.Com (Overseas players).

Sport England Funding.

Health and Safety and SPC Courses for Overseas Players – the importance of booking players without the appropriate qualifications was stressed.

ECB Club Strategy – The Secretary will be attending a meeting in February.

Greatersport Coach Funding.

League Cricket Conference Minutes - The Secretary explained he could only attend local meetings, and it was suggested other members of the Committee may volunteer for the other meetings. It is also hoped the League will have more involvement with the LCB in the future.

Finance: Report to follow. Clubs must let Chris Monks have their cricket ball requirements by the February meeting at the latest.

Umpires: Mrs Knott said there had been a poor response to the recent course; however it was hoped there would be 4 or 5 new members next season.

Expenses are to remain the same.

Indoor KO’s: Egerton were congratulated on becoming County champions, but dissatisfaction was expressed that they will have to play their next round at St Bede’s Ormskirk on 17th February, rather than at Old Trafford.

At Tonge’s request the next round of the Axford Indoor KO will be as follows;

1.00pm Tonge V Heaton
2.15pm Horwich V Greenmount
3.30pm Egerton V FSC
4.45pm Farnworth V Little Lever.

Juniors: The Chairman congratulated Mike Buckley on his appointment as the Child Welfare Officer for Greater Manchester.

Final junior fixtures will be issued after the meeting at Astley Bridge on 31st January. There has generally been a good response from clubs.

Handbook: Attempts are being made to cut the costs of the Handbook, and it was agreed each club must take £25 at £2.50. If clubs require any more they must let the Secretary know at the February meeting. Additional books will be £1.

Any further averages must be received by Mike Buckley or Ray Taylor by 9am on 30th January.

Club officials, professionals, records and junior team managers will be assumed to be as 2012 unless updated by 25th February. The Secretary will email clubs a list of influential persons who have died since the last Handbook for clubs to write obituaries.

League Presentation: The Secretary said consideration should be given to Farnworth hosting the event again.
