ANTHONY AXFORD BOLTON CRICKET LEAGUE

MINUTES OF THE GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING

TONGE C.C.

25th FEBRUARY 2013

Apologies: C Monks and Kearsley C.C. Little Lever were not represented. All other clubs and officials attended.

Minutes of the January Meeting: The minutes had been circulated and were approved as a correct record.

Matters Arising: The Chairman thanked Tracey Brooks for her Play-Cricket presentation at Farnworth S.C. and the power point she emailed to clubs. Tracey said she would be happy for clubs to contact her. Clubs are requested to register at least one player on play-cricket before the March meeting to demonstrate they can operate the system. All current players, including juniors who may play in senior cricket, must be registered by the April meeting, with all other juniors by the end of April.

Clubs were reminded that if more than one representative attended the meeting, the club would only have one vote.

Correspondence: The Secretary had emailed the following to clubs; Play-Cricket update, ECB Club Support and Development to which the Secretary added his comments, ECB Jewson Privilege Account Scheme, LCB Staff Reorganisation and The England and Wales Cricket Board ‘Small Grants Scheme’ 2013.

Finance: Treasurer’s report emailed to clubs. Only Eagley C.C. have not placed an order for their cricket balls. Clubs ordered the following quantities; Walkden 24, Astley Bridge 42, Farnworth S.C 48, Egerton 42 and Farnworth 42.

Derek Kay asked if all 2012 Handbook advertisers and plaque and trophy donors had paid. Mike Buckley said several adverts had been removed from the Handbook.

Following a presentation from Sponsorship Liaison Officer Derek Kay, the Committee agreed to the revised terms of sponsorship with Anthony Axford Limited. Clubs will be required to display a board from the sponsors on their grounds, and were requested to support and promote them whenever possible, including mentioning them in club handbooks and fixture booklets, and ordering materials from the company. Derek will form a small group to manage the sponsorship with Axfords and look into future sponsorship. Ian Pilkington recommended future terms of sponsorship should be documented. Frank Hinks and Warwick Milne cautioned that clubs should not rely on the League to pay certain bills on their behalf.

The Chairman thanked Mr Kay.

Indoor K.O.: Egerton were congratulated on winning the Axford Indoor KO and progressing to the National quarter finals, which are to be played on 3rd March. Alternatives have been considered, but Bolton School will be booked for 2014. Mike Hall congratulated our umpires for the smooth running of both competitions.

Umpires: Clubs were reminded that for season 2013 if a player breaks the stumps, it does not become ‘dead ball’ and the game continues.

Messer’s Duckworth and Lewis will be speaking about their run rate calculation system at 12pm Saturday 30th March at Barnsley C.C.

There will be an Introduction to Scoring Course at 7.30pm on 19th March, cost £5, at Astley Bridge C.C. and a Level 1 course the following week. The latter has to be pre-booked.

Juniors: Child Protection spread sheets have been distributed to all clubs. The penalty for non compliance will be the same as last year.

Mike Hall will chair junior committee meetings.

Junior fixtures have been approved and cup draws made.

There will be Under 12 and Under 14 Inter League Competitions this year.

Five Bolton League clubs partook in an Under 11s indoor competition.

The next Junior Meeting is Thursday 14th March.

R&C:  Clubs’ professionals to date have been graded as follows; Astley Bridge 1, Eagley 2, Egerton 2, Farnworth 1, Greenmount 2, Horwich 2, Tonge 2 and Westhoughton 2.

Gary Garner has transferred from Heaton to Bradshaw.

The importance of clubs using the League’s registration form to register players new to the League, or as required by revised Rule 13(c) was stressed. It is the club’s responsibility to ensure the information supplied is correct.

Handbooks: Twenty five books will be supplied to all clubs, apart from Heaton and Walkden who ordered additional copies.

The two clubs will be invoiced £1 for the additional copies.

Farnworth S.C and Kearsley have until 5th March to update their club officials and junior team managers; otherwise their entries will be as 2012. Little Lever need a contact for their Under 13 team.

Clubs can update their pages, professionals, obituaries etc up to 5th March.

Amendments to Rules 2014: Three have been circulated previously by the Secretary, who briefly explained the reasoning to the rules relating to Lancashire KO qualification and the introduction of Duckworth / Lewis run rates.

The importance of clubs achieving ‘Clubmark’ was stressed in relation to competitions outside the Bolton League.

Date of Next Meetings: 25th March and 22nd April.
