ANTHONY AXFORD BOLTON CRICKET LEAGUE

MINUTES OF THE MEETING 19th AUGUST 2013

TONGE CC.

Minute’s Silence: The Eagley and Egerton representatives paid tribute to Graham Waterworth, League Co-Opted member, and the Committee stood in silence in his memory.

Apologies: Karen Knott and Kearsley C.C.

Minutes of the July Meeting: There was one amendment, the Egerton player had one, not two matches suspended. The minutes were then approved as a correct record.

Matters Arising: Cricket balls will be discussed at the September meeting.

Administration: The Chairman said the level of administration at certain clubs was still appalling, and clubs must fulfil their obligation. Tracey Brooks said she would be meeting with the Secretary to look at certain aspects of Play-Cricket, including registrations, second team results and submissions to the Bolton News.

Correspondence: The Committee agreed with the Eagley representative that there should be in-depth discussions about compulsory professions, but there were strong indications that Eagley would not be given a waiver of rule to play without professional in 2014.

Bill Elkin recommended that League officials meet with Eagley again to see if the Club has the capacity and ability to make sustainable improvements.

Clubs voted not to expand the League, and therefore an application from a club outside the League cannot be accepted unless a vacancy arises.

The Secretary had written to all clubs again to ask that visiting clubs respect the ground and facilities of their hosts.

Finance: In the absence of the Treasurer there was no report, but Mr Elkin circulated an update on the proposals for the Handbook. Several people had requested that rules be included. The Committee were reminded that the production of the Handbook will be overseen by the Sponsorship Committee.

Umpires: Clubs were reminded that for the remainder of the season matches will start at 12.30pm.

The recently introduced guidelines for wides were discussed.

A list of missing umpires reports was read to the Committee.

Discipline: 11 Astley Bridge and two Little Lever players have received a general warning about their behaviour.

An Eagley player received a two match ban, with a further two matches suspended until the end of the season.

R&C Report: The Secretary noted it was several years since the League had complied with the ‘Starred’ player rule, and said he would propose a simplified Rule.

Horwich have signed Liam Bones as replacement professional. His statistics over the past three seasons exceeded the minimum requirement of the League.

Juniors: The next meeting is at Astley Bridge on Thursday 22nd August. A set of wide ranging proposals have been forwarded to junior and senior representatives. The Committee agreed once the options have been narrowed down a joint senior / junior meeting should be held.

Prize Claim Meeting: Monday 7th October. Tracy will assist any club to extract the relevant information from Play-Cricket phillips012001@hotmail.com or 07878 755467.

Presentations: There were two applications to host the senior presentation and Farnworth defeated Bradshaw on a vote. A decision about the junior presentation will be taken at the junior meeting.

Amendments to Rules: The Chairman will be putting forward a proposal as to the way the League is administered.

Date of Next Meeting: 30th September.
