MINUTES OF THE MEETING 28th OCTOBER 2013

Apologies: The Treasurer and Junior Secretary. Astley Bridge and Greenmount were not represented.

Minutes of he September Meeting: These had been circulated and were approved by the Committee as a correct record.

Matters Arising: The Inter League team will play the Liverpool Competition, who have replaced the defunct Manchester Association, in the first round of the Reader K.O. The match will be at Farnworth S.C. The Bolton League are at home in all three rounds if successful.  The draw and details of the junior groups are on the boltoncricket website.

The Secretary attended the National Cricket Survey Workshop at Old Trafford. As not all the data was available appertaining to local leagues, the will be a follow-up meeting.

A date has still to be arranged for the meeting with Club Welfare Officers.

Several clubs had not complied either partially or fully with the prize claim requirements. It was agreed that prizes should be awarded to players on merit, even if their club had not submitted a claim in the correct manner. The Secretary will distribute a list of prize winners.

The 2014 season will commence on Easter Sunday, 20th April. A proposal to start the season a week later was defeated.

Correspondence: Emails relating to taxation of cricket clubs, LCB staffing and development, a first aid course at Greenmount C.C. on 21st November and the League Cricket Conference Legal Update had been circulated. Clubs were asked if they would like Gareth Williams to attend a meeting or seminar to explain the benefits of clubs becoming limited companies.

Finance: Statement to follow. Only one club still owes the League money, and they are aware it has to be paid by the end of the month.

Umpires: The Axford Indoor matches will start at midday on 5th, 12th 19th and 26th January 2014.

The Umpires Association are looking for a venue for a seminar between 2pm and 5pm on Saturday 23rd November.

Juniors: The Chairman said the Junior Presentation had been a success and had made a loss of around £150.

There will be a Forum to discuss junior rules at Tonge C.C., 7pm 4th November.

League Presentation: David Morris needs to know clubs’ ticket requirements a week before the Presentation on 29th November.

Proposed Amendments to Rules: The Chairman outlined his radical proposal for a League Management Committee. Following discussions it was agreed this would comprise four officials; Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and Vice Chair, plus four other (Co-opted) members. Other minor revisions would be made to the document before distribution.

Full details of the proposal have been emailed to clubs.

Other proposals which had been received and had not already been discussed were introduced to the Committee.

A voting form will be sent to clubs as soon as practical.

League Handbook: Clubs were reminded they need to actively seek their own sponsors for the Handbook.
