MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MINUTES

2nd JUNE 2014

ANTHONY AXFORD BOLTON CRICKET LEAGUE

Apologies: Mike Buckley, John Hutchinson and Chris Monks.

Minutes of the May Meeting: These had been circulated and were accepted as a correct record.

Matters Arising: There had been no problems with registrations leading up to the Hamer and Birtwistle Cup first rounds. Registrations and transfers should still be submitted to Ron Fallows on the paper forms.

All clubs have submitted their Public Liability details. Tonge, Little Lever and Horwich are still to set up direct debits.

MB will be pushing clubs to submit their Child Welfare details.

Members of the Committee who have League Letterheads were asked to let RT or DK have a copy so an application can be made to the MCC for a fixture.

The Under 18 fixture on 8th May is at Stretford C.C. MH will arrange a venue for the match on 13th July.

Correspondence: MH gave an update about the situation with League Cricket in Greater Manchester. Clubs will be invited to a presentation at Old Trafford on a date to be confirmed.

Clubs have been sent an email from LCB regarding Club Development planning.

The correct address and postcode for Eagley Cricket Club is Blackburn Road, Egerton, Bolton, BL7 9PF.

Derek Kay and Mike Hall will be announcing the Inter League team later in the week.

Finance: RT is to ask CM for a statement to be circulated to clubs.

Umpires: The Spirit of Cricket was discussed at length. It was noted that the match umpires had post match meetings with the first team captains from Egerton, Farnworth S.C., Kearsley and Walkden to discuss the behaviour of their players.

Team captains are being invited to the umpires’ meeting on 16th June. MH will also be attending.

The shortage of umpires is still a problem, and several suggestions will be taken back for discussion by the umpires.

The R&C Committee will be taking action against teams who fail to submit umpires reports on a regular basis. Reports must be submitted even if a match is called off and scorers must list the names of all the players who would have participated and have the scorebook signed by the umpire(s).

Juniors: The R&C Committee have written to Heaton who failed to fulfil an 18 fixture and Little Lever who failed to fulfil an Under 13 fixture. The following teams will have an automatic deduction of first team points if they fail to fulfil fixtures at the following age groups in 2015; Farnworth Under 9, Kearsley and Walkden Under 15, Little Lever Under 18.

Grounds: DK said all reports received to date have been siscussed with the club’s groundsmen and there will be a review before the meeting on 30th June.

Clubs are encouraged to have flags even if there is a drop off at the boundary.

Discipline: One report is pending relating to an incident in a second team match.

ECB t20: It was agreed in principle that clubs participating the competition would be given priority the follow season when the draw is made for byes and for the status of Host Club when more than one match is to be played on one ground.

Development: MH reiterated the aims relating the support of clubs and ease of administration.

It is the intention of the Management Committee to release one or two proposals relating to senior cricket in advance of the meeting on 30th June. It is anticipated the proposals will cover both first and second teams, with possible variations for second team cricket from 2016.

There were discussions relating to junior cricket, but because of the wide range of opinions there is unlikely to be a formal proposal or proposals in the near future.

Date of General Committee Meeting: 30th June, 7.45pm at Tonge C.C.
