AT FARNWORTH S.C.C.C.

28th AUGUST 2014

Apologies: M Buckley, E Smith. David Heap represented the umpires.

Minutes of the August 11th Meeting: These had been circulated previously and were agreed to be a correct record.

Matters Arising: Walkden are now Clubmark accredited. The Committee understand Farnworth are making progress. BE offered to assist Little Lever with theirs.

The Committee discussed the advantages of internet banking.

The League will look into the possibility of hosting a Groundsmans Course in the future.

Over the coming months the Committee will explore various methods of recruiting more umpires, including training at least one person from each club to umpire second team matches, recruiting officials from other sports and recruiting younger officials which will include the payment of expenses for umpiring in junior matches. It was agreed the existing pay structure for officials should be reviewed.

Correspondence: A letter from the LCB regarding social media had been circulated

Finance: Little Lever will be up to date with their payments in the near future, and a deadline will be set for the setting up of a direct debit.

Umpires: It was generally felt the policy of zero tolerance had paid off.

It was agreed the League would again pay the umpires’ insurance.

Discipline: Egerton have produced a plan of action for a player with an existing medical condition, however Walkden have not responded. The matter will be left with the Disciplinary Committee. Three Little Lever players have been suspended for incidents in two separate matches. One player appealed, but the original decision was upheld.

Astley Bridge were informed about the conduct of one of their first team players.

Problems caused by a comment on Twitter by a Bolton League player should be resolved by weekend. MH is looking into comments about the Bolton League posted by someone with a connection to the LCB.

R&C Report: A letter has been sent to Kearsley regarding the lack of information on Play-Cricket. However, the Committee were generally satisfied with the level of penetration throughout the League.

The Committee discussed the benefits of i team mate and there will be a demonstration at a future meeting.

Juniors: The Under 11 final between Heaton and Bradshaw will be played on 7th September and the Under 13 final between Heaton and Greenmount on 14th September. Both matches will start at 9.30am and the over in progress at midday will be the final over of the match.

Concern was expressed about the Under 18 team having to move the final of the Inter League KO at the request of another league, particularly as an earlier request for a change of date from us had been turned down.

The Committee are happy for teams to be entered in the LCB under 14 and under 12 competitions. The juniors have sufficient funds to cover these competitions.

Junior Presentation: MH will speak to MB.

Junior Cricket Proposals: Two diametrically opposed proposals had been received and it was accepted there could not be a satisfactory compromise. In principle it was agreed that clubs should run teams at three out of the following age groups; under 9, under 11, under 13 and under 15. There would also be voluntary entry into a 20/20 competition for under 18s and a third team to play matches on a Sunday afternoon with a mixture of junior and senior players. A sub-committee of Tracey Brooks, Warwick Milne, Ray Taylor and lead by Bill Elkin will discuss the options in greater detail. BE is prepared to visit member clubs to explain the proposals and answer questions.

Senior Cricket Proposals: These will be discussed by at a special meeting of the Management Committee on 11th September.

Date of General Committee and Prize Claim Meeting: 7.45pm at Tonge C.C. 29th September. Wherever possible prize claims will be based on the information input on Play Cricket, but clubs will have the opportunity to check the information before 29th. Clubs must bring all scorebooks to the meeting.
