ANTHONY AXFORD BOLTON CRICKET LEAGUE

MINUTES OF THE GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING

AT BRADSHAW C.C.

1st DECEMBER 2014

Apology: John Hutchinson. All clubs and officials attended with the exception of the Treasurer.

Minutes Silence: Peter Stafford. The Committee stood in memory of the former Secretary and Life President, and other members of the cricketing community around the world who had recently lost their lives in tragic accidents.

The Secretary will send a message of condolence to the ACB in respect of Phil Hughes.

The Management Committee will consider a trophy in memory of Peter Stafford.

Greater Manchester Leagues: The Chairman introduced a slide show outlining the intentions and detailing the progress to date. Further discussions indicated some members would prefer the Bolton League to progress independently and others would rather retain the existing structure. A proposal from the Secretary that the League retain an interest in the GM structure to the exclusion of other developments was defeated as it was noted that the Central Lancashire League were simultaneously continuing discussions with the Lancashire League and other Greater Manchester Leagues. The following press release will be issued;

“At the Bolton Cricket League Meeting held on Monday 1st December the Clubs of the league had a full and frank discussion on the issues facing recreational cricket and in particular the desire to improve standards in the BCL The clubs discussed a range of options in how best to respond but all agreed that the league must look to change with the aim of improving its standard of cricket, its grounds and facilities and to consider the playing structure that we currently operate under. The League Management Committee will now consider how best to respond to the need for change and will continue to discuss these options with the clubs. Although there is further work required to develop the concept of a Greater Manchester approach to cricket the clubs mandated league officials to maintain a dialogue with the other 10 cricket leagues in Greater Manchester who are meeting regularly to develop the principles of this idea. The clubs in the BCL are supportive of change and recognise that our league structures need to reflect the society we now live in. It is recognised that this will be a challenge, but all clubs agreed that the time is right for change, and need to move forward collectively.”

Minutes of The September General Committee Meeting and October Management Committee Meeting: These had been circulated and were agreed to be a correct record.

Matters Arising: Clubs were reminded to register their interest for the ECB U19 20/20 competition.

Details of Welfare Courses have been sent to clubs.

In the absence of Mr Hutchinson details of the 2014/15 Residential Coaching Course will be emailed to clubs.
