MINUTES OF THE MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETING

TONGE C.C. 12th JANUARY 2015

 

Apologies: Derek Kay who sadly died later in the evening. Eric Smith was replaced as umpires’ representative by David Heap.

Harry Newton: The Committee noted the death of the former Little Lever player.

The Minutes of the December Meeting: The minutes had been circulated previously, and were agreed to be a correct record. The Chairman welcomed Will Halton to the meeting.

The Matters Arising: Mr Hutchinson is still awaiting replies from Astley Bridge, Eagley and Farnworth in relation to the Residential Course, but there has generally been a good level of support. The maximum cost to the Bolton League will be £700.

An umpires’ representative to the Management Committee will be appointed after their AGM later this month.

Appointment of Sub Committees: These were agreed but will be ratified at the next meeting when individuals have confirmed they are available. Frank Hinks will remain a member of the Disciplinary Committee.

League Officers: To be ratified at the next Management Meeting. There is a vacancy for Inter League Team Manager.

The junior age group Secretaries will be the same as last year, with Tracey Brooks responsible for admin.

Correspondence: The LCB have emailed clubs with ‘How to Monetise Your Club’ at Old Trafford on 12th February.

Finance: A statement is included with these minutes. Clubs have three options;

1.      Clear their arrears and change their direct debit to £125 a month,

2.      Clear their arrears and pay £1500 in advance

3.      Agree a direct debit with the Treasurer, Warwick Milne, which will incorporate £125 a month plus the arrears.

 

The deadline for putting these arrangements into practice is 28th February.

 

 

Umpires: There is a Level 1 course at Astley Bridge commencing 13th January and an Introduction to Umpiring Course on 9th March.

A letter has been sent to a local referees’ society to see if any of their younger members would be interested in umpiring junior cricket matches.

At present we have 26 umpires and are hopeful of recruiting others.

R&C Report: Astley Bridge and Walkden have been fined £50 and £62.50 costs for failing to take part in the Indoor KO. In future clubs will be asked if they wish to enter. Mrs Knott will look into the possibility of bringing the competition forward to the October or alternatively putting the first round back a week.

Transfers; G Garner (Bradshaw to Heaton), S Hornby (Egerton to Bradshaw) and J Cumberbatch (Bradshaw to Eagley).

Future registrations and transfers will be made using iteamate and Mike Buckley will be visiting clubs before the season to explain how the system works.

Fixtures: The Secretary apologised for omitting the first round of the Hamer Cup. It was agreed the latest draft should be sent to clubs.

Clubs will be left to arrange their own fixtures for senior third teams.

Cricket Balls: Clubs will be asked to let the Secretary know their requirements by the end of January. If clubs do not respond it will be assumed they require 30 balls.

Junior Fixtures: Junior Officials will be contacting clubs to see which age groups they will be entering.

League Handbook: Clubs should send information to Mike Buckley.

Child Welfare: Clubs will be asked to provide updated information before the start of the season.

Greater Manchester League: Various members of the Management Committee have been assisting with the development, and it is anticipated a prospectus will be issued in May. However, the Management Committee will also be looking at the development of the Bolton League with initial discussions based around a ten page document drafted by the Secretary
