ANTHONY AXFORD BOLTON CRICKET LEAGUE

MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING

TONGE C.C.

8th JUNE 2015

Apologies: None. All clubs attended and were allowed up to five representatives but only two votes. All officers attended and were allowed one vote.

Background: The Chairman said this was the first SGM anyone could recall, and added the mandate for expansion from December 2014 had now been delivered. Clubs were thanked for the efforts they had made in arranging meetings and their contributions to discussions.

Vote: Clubs voted in accordance with Rule 10. Twelve clubs voted in favour of expanding the Bolton League with abstentions from Greenmount who had already decided to leave the League and Astley Bridge. The Chairman paid tribute to Greenmount and said they had enhanced the League in their time as members.

Proposal: Eagley had circulated a proposal relating to professionals. This was discussed but received little support. A suggestion that clubs outside the League may be permitted to play their junior cricket with us also received minimal support.

Development: A proposal from the Secretary that the Bolton Association clubs who had expressed a wish to join the Bolton League via their Executive be accepted was defeated by 14 votes to 13. It was agreed adverts would be placed in the local newspapers and clubs asked to apply individually in writing. The Secretary cautioned that by only accepting a handful of clubs we could end up with an unworkable number of clubs.

Date of the Next Meeting: This would be an ordinary committee meeting at Kearsley C.C. at 7.45pm on Monday 15th June where clubs and officials would be asked to ratify applications.
