ANTHONY AXFORD BOLTON CRICKET LEAGUE

MINUTES OF THE GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING

HELD AT TONGE C.C. 23rd NOVEMBER 2015

Apology: Mike Cregan.

Minutes of the Meeting on 2nd November: These had been circulated and were agreed to be a correct record.

Matters Arising: The Secretary said there was little to report with regard to the proposed Lancashire League expansion. The senior fixtures had been circulated and were approved. Clubs agreed unanimously that league fixtures scheduled for the last two weekends in August should commence at 1pm. It was agreed that as in previous years, the President, Umpires and Junior Secretary should be allowed a vote on proposed amendments to rule. The new proposal for the constitution will cover this.

Umpires: Representatives from the League and club captains had attended seminars concerning ‘Get the Game On’. It was felt that the Bolton League rules already encompassed most of the recommendations. It was noted that a Bristol league reward clubs who provide trained umpires with points. There will be an Introduction to Umpiring course in the New Year. Details can be found on the Umpires’ Website http://www.boltonumps.co.uk/

Axford Indoor KO: The draw was distributed and appears on the Boltoncricket website www.boltoncricket.co.uk/forum. Matches are to be played on 3rd, 10th, 17th and 24th January.

Juniors: Bolton Cricket Development has appointed M. Buckley and B. Dunn as joint Chair, P. Jackson as Secretary, A. Morris as Treasurer and T. Brooks as fixture co-ordinator. A partnership with the Lancashire Coaches Association has been established. There will be further discussion about a £50 donation out of the £100 coaching levy on Bolton League clubs.

R&C Report: Bradshaw confirmed they are not prepared to release one of their players within the 12 months of his signing for the club.

Finance: Clubs confirmed their senior cricket ball orders. Junior ball orders will follow.

Horwich Churches Association: http://hcwca.play-cricket.com/website/website/league_table/25298.  There is scope for clubs who have a number of junior players not quite good enough for senior cricket or occasional or fringe second team player to enter this league. Matches are 20 overs, eight a side and 11 a side in the cup. The contact is Dave Sherrington 97753 745267.

40 Over Competition: The following clubs are entering in 2016, Atherton, Blackrod, Bradshaw, Darcy Lever, Eagley, Farnworth, Farnworth S.C., Heaton, Horwich, Little Hulton, Little Lever, Walkden and Westhoughton. President Frank Hinks announced details of the sponsorship which will directly benefit the participating clubs.

Ground Reports: These have been given to clubs stating the mandatory requirements for the 2016 season and recommended improvements. Clubs will be inspected again pre season and marked during the season. Clubs generally made a favourable impression on the inspection teams.

Proposed Amendments to Senior Rules: The successful proposals will be sent out in the form of a further voting paper. Note – it was agreed the following would be adopted in the unlikely event of a bowl out in cup matches; all eleven players will bowl one ball alternately. The ball must not be a no-ball and must pitch once before the popping crease to be fair. In the case of a tie then sudden death will take place with bowlers keeping to the same order.

Proposed Amendments to Junior Rules: These too will be sent out in the form of a voting paper. It was noted that clubs not entering the Bolton League junior competitions had not voted.

Election of Officers: The following have received nominations –

President – John Charlson (Life President Frank Hinks)

Chair – John Hutchinson

Vice Chair – Phil Andrews

Secretary – Ray Taylor

Treasurer – Warwick Milne

Junior Representative – Mike Buckley

Umpires’ Representative – To be elected

Registrations and Competitions Representative – Karen Knott

Discipline – Neil Redford
