MINUTES OF THE GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING

HELD AT TONGE C.C. 29th FEBRUARY 2016

 

Apologies: Frank Hinks and Bobby Denning (LCB). All clubs and officials attended with the exception of Little Hulton. Phil Andrews took the chair as John Hutchinson had to leave early.

Minutes Silence: The Committee stood in memory of Alan Yates (Tonge C.C.).

Minutes of the Meeting 1st February: These had been circulated and were approved as a correct record.

Matters Arising: The Secretary said the Lancashire League were voting on a proposal this week which would impact on cricket in the Lancashire Area.

Unless clubs contact Karen Knott before the March meeting to withdraw, it will be assumed the same 16 clubs will the entering the Axford Indoor KO in January 2017.

Juniors: John Hutchinson said this was the last day for nominations for the Colts coaching over the weekend of 16th April. The cost per player will be around £110 to £115.

These is a meeting for junior coaches with the Lancashire Coaches Association on Wednesday 2nd March at Westhoughton C.C. 7pm. It is anticipated every club will send at least one coach.

Mike Buckley said Farnworth, Horwich and Little Hulton did not attend the junior meeting last week. The junior fixtures were approved. Bobby Denning has been in contact with the Lancashire Football Association regarding summer football and further meetings will be held with interested parties.

There will be a junior team managers’ meeting on 21st April.

Junior balls must be ordered by 4th March.

In the first instance District team managers will be given the opportunity of managing the Bolton League U12 and U14 teams.

Umpires: There is an Introduction to Umpiring course 7.30pm to 9.30pm at Tonge C.C. on 21st April. This is particularly suitable for junior team managers. Places can be booked via Tracey phillips012001@hotmail.com.

There are two courses at Astley Bridge C.C.; an Introduction to Scoring Course on 15th March and a Club Scorer Course from 22nd March.

Finance: It was agreed a donation of £150 be made to clubs in Cumbria affected by flooding over the Christmas period.

After paying the insurance £924 there is over £12k in the bank. Suggestions how some of this could be spent should be sent to the Secretary before the next meeting.

Registrations: Most of the former Bolton Association clubs have begun the registration process; Mike Buckley will be contacting the remainder.

Tracey will be emailing clubs with the process for registering junior players. Clubs are reminded juniors are subject to the same transfer rules as senior players.

The Committee approved the transfer of Gary Garner from Bradshaw C.C.

Clubs are asked to send Karen Knott the name and background information relating to their overseas amateur so standards can be monitored by the R&C Committee; knott_karen@hotmail.com

Grounds and Facilities: Mike Cregan said work was progressing at Lostock’s new ground, but there are alternative plans if poor weather continues.

Clubs were asked to refer to the Ground Committee reports issued last year. There will a full ground inspection some time after the Easter Holidays, but where specific issues were highlighted at clubs, representative from the Ground Committee with meet those clubs. Clubs will be expected to have covers, a fully operational scoreboard and ground machinery serviced and in working order.

There was a lengthy discussion regarding boundaries, both in terms of policy and individual clubs.

Handbook: The final date for submissions is 17th March; this includes club officials, obituaries and pictures.  Adverts are £30, which will be deducted from the total cost to each club. The cost per Handbook will be around £2.50 and clubs will be required to take a minimum of 25.

Child Welfare: Mike Buckley explained the changes to helmet requirements for junior players. Clubs in areas of high depravation may be eligible for kit from The Lords Taverners http://www.lordstaverners.org/cricket-programmes-what-we-do-the-lords-taverners

Clubs must email Mike Buckley with details of their Welfare Officers. A separate email will be sent out covering this.

Logos: Clubs wishing to have adverts or logos on players’ kit should let the Committee see an example so permission can be given to exceptions to the League Rule.

7th March 7.45pm at Darcy Lever C.C. aimed at former Association players and umpires, concentrating on the playing rules.

21st March 7.45pm at Tonge C.C. - League Meeting.

18th April 7.45pm at Tonge C.C.  - Umpires/Captains meeting.
