ANTHONY AXFORD BOLTON CRICKET LEAGUE

INTERIM MEETING AT TONGE C.C.

25th MAY 2016

Apologies: Adlington, Atherton, Horwich, Kearsley, Standish and Westhoughton. Blackrod, Little Lever and Walkden were not represented. Clubs had been told previously they did not need to attend.

Minutes of the April Meeting: These had been circulated and were approved as a correct record.

Matters Arising: A date has not yet been arranged for the mid-season ground inspection.

Correspondence: A letter has been sent to clubs regarding players’ general conduct. To date no players have been reported.

LCB Recreational Sub Committee: The Secretary said there was little to report in terms of the movement of clubs around the County. The Lancashire League expansion had been effectively suspended. It was reported the GMCL Chairman had tweeted there were vacancies in their league, and as agreed at the last meeting the Committee felt the Bolton League should do the same. Agreement was reached on how the League should proceed if approached by other clubs. The League are aware of League Cricket Conference and LCB rules regarding the movement of clubs, and would not be expected to be treated differently from any other league.

T20: The pink Tifflex balls were distributed and supplies of balls given to clubs whose opponents this Friday were not at the meeting. When balls need retrieving or are lost, the Reader ball should be used if a ‘second’ pink ball is not available.

Balls for the 40 over competition were also distributed.

The Secretary reminded clubs deputy professions can be engaged. There are bonus points in the group stages of the competition.

Competition rules are in the Handbook.

There will be publicity for the competition in the Bolton News, but it is up to clubs to organise their own publicity locally. The Secretary said Egerton used to get crowds of 4-500 on a Friday night by putting a banner on the main road through the village.

Over the weekend the Secretary had been reading the Lancashire League website and discussing the 20/20 competition with the officials at Enfield C.C. It is clear some players have a problem playing Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and if the Bolton League are to embrace t20 cricket we may have to look at reducing our other fixtures, especially around late May to early July. In this respect two smaller rather than larger divisions could be preferable.

Anwar-Ul-Haq: The League has dealt with this in accordance with Rule 14(b). The principle of this rule has been in existence for over 40 years. Little Hulton thanked the League Committee.

Farnworth Professional – Farnworth requested a waiver of rule regarding their professional’s absence. As this was not a full committee decision, Farnworth were asked to put their case in writing for a decision at the June meeting.

It was agreed the wording of rule 14(i) should be reviewed at the next meeting.

21st May: These matches have been re-arranged for 4th September as agreed at the February meeting. Many other leagues will not have fixtures on this date if clubs require grounds.

Lostock C.C.: Grounds for their second team will be required until at least the end of June. Lostock will contact the clubs directly and inform the League Secretary of the arrangements. Similar occurrences with clubs in the future will be decided on a case-by-case basis.

Hamer / Birtwistle 2nd Round:  To accommodate the Colts match on 5th June, matches will be played on the following dates along with the corresponding Birtwistle Cup matches;

5th June;

Astley Bridge v Heaton

Bradshaw v Walkden

Farnworth S.C. v Westhoughton

Kearsley v Farnworth

12th June;

Adlington v Eagley

Lostock v Little Lever

Little Hulton v Horwich

Golborne v Blackrod

Umpires: Reports require improvement, must be completed by an adult, show the date of the match not the date submitted and the names of the umpires. Rule 26(u) will now be enforced.

Finance: Individual invoices for balls are still awaited from Cricket World.

Date of Next Meeting: 27th June.
