Report : Excitement was high on the first day of the season helped by the fantastic weather. John Fearick started an excellent spell by claiming two early wickets after which Thompson and Davies battled their way on a slow pitch. Pro, Hirwani started the season in a very consistant manner bowling the bulk of the overs with a brused heel. Iman, the Kearsley pro top-scored with a well played 57. Heaton started well and after reaching 70 for 2 , had a miner collapse with a great innings of 44 from Ian Bradshaw that included a huge 6 over extra-cover holding things together. In the end it was left to the experience of Warrick Milne and Hirwani to see Heaton win by 2 wickets. Phew! |
