Report : After losing the toss and being inserted on what looked like a wicket that would favour the bowlers, the Bolton League got off to a great start with some excellent pinch-hitting by Iqbal Patel, who was well supported by Gary Garner. John Kerrigan was sent in to continue the onslaught, but it was not his day. Morris chased a wide one and Rick Northrop joined Garner to steady the innings with a well played half-centuary. Paul Rayment arrived only to launch the bowling to all parts of the ground and with the help of Chris Barrow, the Bolton League managed a very respectable 291 in their allotted 48 overs. John Fearick got the early breakthrough in the Lancs County reply and with good support from young Dayle Jones, the Bolton League always appeared in control of the game. Iqbal Patel showed his all-round ability with a lively and accurate spell, while the evergreen Rayment was steady and ended up with the Man-of-the-Match award. Hussain and Ridehaugh, the two left-handers, showed  a fighting spirit with half-centuries, but in the end it was not enough and the Bolton League had a comfortable win.
