Report : With loads of rain in the early hours of Sunday morning, this fixture looked doomed from the start. Although the outfield was wet, the pitch was well covered and bone dry. It seemed like the team who won the toss (won by Walkden) should have the best of the conditions as the fielding team bowled with a wet ball. Walkden struggled from the start as John Fearick bowled consistently to claim 3 early wickets and pro, Hirwani, produced his best spell of the season to restrict the strong Walkden batting line-up to a modest total. In reply 14 year old James Reynard showed huge promise by seeing off the new ball and batting for 15 overs. Micheal Daley played some quality strokes in his innings and with John Fearick steered Heaton home to victory, and into the semis of the Hamer Cup, something they have not achieved in 10 years.
