Report : Heaton bowled very well at the start after winning the toss on a day when the ball was swinging a great deal. John Fearick and Dale Jones were both on form having Eagley in trouble from the start. Hirwani produced a fine spell only conceeding 17 runs off 16 overs. The Heaton team only just managed to get their allotted 46 overs in after constantly having to dry the ball and put sawdust on the bowlers run-ups. When the thunderstorm arrived Heaton when poised for a good run chase needing 95 off 25 overs, but the pitch was too wet wet and the game was abandoned.
