Report : After winning the toss on a wet pitch, the Heaton bowlers John Fearick and Hirwani bowled with accuracy and patience. Bradshaw pro Ganpatye and Lee Sutton built the innings with Sutton in particular, regularly dispatching Hirwani over the sguare-leg boundary. Hirwani rolled over the lower order batsmen. Mike Ward and John Fearick put on 80 runs for the first wicket in Heaton's reply, and with an aggressive innings from Paul Rayment, they romped to an easy victory.
