Report : With no hesitation after winning the toss, the Bolton League started off batting with some great stroke-play from Paul Stafford. After his demise the captain, Dave Morris and Dave Parkinson shared a quality partnership of 180, each amassing 80 runs, before "the wheel" Barrow abused the bowling in the last few overs of the innings with an almighty effort over mid-wicket that would have cleared any grandstand, on any ground, ever in the history of the game (or at least as we know it). The luckless John Fearick bowled fantastic to keep the pressure on with the new ball, and an inspirational captains decision to bring on the spinners at an early stage gave the Bolton League the edge with a fine deceptive spell from Chris Barrow and Ryan Senior, after Matt Parkinson had to leave the field with a damaged knee. well done to the Bolton League in defence of the title. (and to Matt - a speedy recovery) |
