Play off for U11 League

After Sundays Cup Final, both Horwich and Westhoughton's U11's had to play each other again to decide who was to finish top in the league.

The Horwich lads were in confident mood after winning the cup final 5 days earlier.

Horwich won the toss and yet again got off to a great start. At 249 with the last pair still to bat another big score looked on the cards. But some outstanding bowling by Westhoughton and 2 wickets in the final over left Horwich on a score of 249.

Westhoughton's 1st pair got off to a great start and got Westhoughton to 215 after 4 overs!!

With Westhoughton's big (an i mean big) hitting batsman coming out to bat the Horwich boys new they had to bowl tight lines or the game would quickly slip away from them.

Up step Marcus Haydock the Horwich Captain and for the 2nd time in 5 days he bowled full and straight and that spell of bowling against Westhoughton's main run machine without doubt turned the match in Horwich's favour.

The Captain set the example and his troops followed with some tight bowling at the death.

Westhoughton finished on 208.

Considering this was an U11's game, the standard of cricket on show was of the highest drawer, and it is a credit to all the volunteers involved at both clubs, especially the coaches.

Well done to all the boys on a fantastic game.
