Minutes of the Junior Section May Meeting


 Apologies: Greenmount C.C and Derrick Kay

 Absent: Walkden, and John Hutchinson

 Present: All other clubs

 Minutes: These were approved as a correct record, but some representatives were not happy about only receiving the minutes at the next meeting. Mike Hall will pass on this reservation.

 Matters Arising: The Teddy Gerrard trophy was found at Little Lever. Match Cards will be available at the senior meeting on Monday 24th May and it was agreed by the meeting, that there would be no fines for not sending in a match card until all clubs received have them.

 Age Level Reports:

U11’s Ian Cavill stated that all is well at his age group with all teams fulfilling their fixtures.

U13’s Geoff Diggle stated that Walkden C.C were not going to turn out a side all season after a lengthy discussion it was recommended that Walkden would be fined £20 per game to a maximum of £260 for the season. Every club in attendance was in favour except Eagley who abstained. It was also decided that no points would be awarded for Walkden games throughout the season.

U15’s No report due to John Hutchinson not being in attendance.

U11’s Darren Wilson stated the Eagley had missed two fixtures in the One Day game, after a discussion it was recommended that Eagley would be fined £10 for each game they have missed.

All age group Secretaries were not happy about clubs not phoning the result through, could clubs try harder at this point.

Interleague Report:

U11’s beat the Heavywoolen District League in a friendly on Bank Holiday Monday. They had a slight problem with the Coach and Bill Stevenson will look into what we are covered for in our insurance.

U13’s lost to the Heavywoolen District League @ Bradshaw only by 4 runs. Thanks went to Bradshaw for staging the game. Also the U13’s beat the Bolton Association in the first game of three at Horwich in the Teddy Gerrard trophy, One notable performance was Phil Cavill (HO) an U11 who took 5 wickets for only 19 runs, well done Phil. Thanks were also given to Horwich for staging the fixture.

U15’s haven’t played any fixtures yet but will have a game soon verses the Place Shield League in the Michael Roache Trophy away.

U18’s haven’t played yet but have a fixture in the MEN Trophy  @ Egerton soon.

Coaching:

Richard Dearden stated that there would be a Master Class involving Professionals for the age group U14’s to U17’s on Bank Holiday Monday at the end of this month. Richard and his committee would inform players that are to be invited. Venue to be confirmed. Ian Cavill also asked if other players could attend, Richard said he would accept nominations from clubs.

A Consent Form was given out to the meeting for clubs to use for their junior players. It was stated that all Interleague players must fill one of these out before they play again for the League.

Any Other Business:

Walkden C.C have still not paid their £100 coaching levy, the Senior League would deal with this point.

A point was brought up about the payment of coaches on the coaching committee, and Mike Hall confirmed that no coaches or pros will be paid without approval by the committee or by the League officials if not meeting is due.

Astley Bridge asked if it would be ok to run a competition for invited clubs only in memory of Roy Thomasson, all clubs where in favour.

There being no other business the meeting closed at 9.45pm.
