Minutes of the Junior Section June Meeting 

Apologies: Derek Kay, John Hutchinson

 Present: All other clubs

 Minutes: These were approved as a correct record.

 Matters Arising: The Chairman asked if the Inter league managers had got their players to fill in the BCL consent form. There seemed to be some confusion but the Chairman will ask the Secretary to re-issue it again to the Interleague Managers only.

 Coaching Committee

Richard Dearden stated that during school holidays there would be 2 day sessions organised, the venues to be confirmed and is open to all nominations from clubs. He also said he had contacted Walkden in regard to offering them assistance with coaching.

 Age Level Reports:

U11’s Ian Cavill stated that all is well at his age group with all teams fulfilling their fixtures.

U13’s Geoff Diggle stated that all was well except for not receiving of match cards..

U15’s John Hutchinson sent a report in, which stated that 4 teams shared the top of the League and he was  ok with results coming in.

U18’s Darren Wilson stated all results were received but could clubs this Wednesday telephone the result through after the game to 07747 128807, due to the Final being held at Astley Bridge on the Friday.

There were some clubs not playing games and these would be put to the full League meeting for fines if approved.

 Eagley £5 donation to Farnworth for not playing their U18’s

Horwich £10 for not playing Greenmount U18’s

Farnworth £10 for not playing Bradshaw U11’s

Some junior reps complained that they didn’t have match cards. The Chairman stated these where given out to the senior reps at the last senior meeting.

Some clubs expressed concern about England matches on junior league fixtures after a discussion it was decided that U15’s matches would continue as normal with the provision to start earlier and U18’s next week if England progress, will be played over one night. 

Inter league Report:

U11’s Ian stated that there would be two friendly’s against the Ribblesdale League at little cost to the League.

U13’s No Report.

U15’s Lost to the Palace Shield in the Michael Roache Trophy. Richard stated that he had 7 first line players missing due to various reasons but commended the players that came in for their commitment on the day only losing by 4 runs.

Richard apologised to the committee for organising the inter league game on the same date of the leagues cup competition which was unavoidable but admitted that it had caused problems for clubs in the cup.

U18’s played their fixture in the MEN Trophy  @ Egerton. The League batted first scoring 207-7 (A Worral 90) and then bowled out their opposition for 137.

 

Walkden C.C (Discussion)

The chairman gave out a handout (Click below to view) for discussion. All clubs considered that this suggestion was one, which should be supported. Frank Hinks the walkden representative was asked by the committee to take back the Leagues proposal and to contact the secretary if they wished to discuss the matter further. Officers of the League were given permission to talk to Walkden on the committee’s behalf.

 

Finance:

There is £1400 in the coaching fund. Bill also reminded Inter league managers that all friendly fixtures must be approved if any expenses are required. A question was asked on insurance for Interleague away fixtures and Bill stated that the Leagues insurance covers Players, umpires and officials within 100 miles of the League but does not cover Parents.

Any Other Business:

The Ruben Mather Trophy final will take place at Astley Bridge on Friday 25th June, Astley Bridge where asked to provided a tin person for the scoreboard.

 There being no other business the meeting closed at 9.30pm.
