Minutes of the Junior Section July Meeting

Apologies & Absence : John Hutchinson & Mike Fletcher apologised , whilst Walkden CC were absent

Matters Arising : The June Minutes had previously been circulated and the Chairman reported nothing had been heard from Walkden CC re their Under 13's fixtures in regard to the proposal discussed whereby Walkden's U/15 could be "allowed" to play those fixtures

Finance  :  The Treasurer reported that there was no change from the previous month and the Coaching Fund was still in place . Any details of Inter League matches , as far as Finance , should be passed onto the Treasurer ( U/11 v Ribblesdale League ?? )

Coa   Coaching  : Richard Dearden reported that there had been difficulties in arranging Sub-Committee meetings as a result of our hectic schedule of matches . He also reported that the Lancashire Youth Coaching system used during the Winter was being scrapped . A Discussion followed concerning the Coaching Fund , Winter Nets , Club Nets  -  and whether "our" funds should be used in these areas rather during the Summer when there were the obvious constraints of time , fixtures , Coaches etc . Richard agreed to raise these issues with his Coaching Group and try to put forward a Programme of Events for discussion at a future Meeting.

Fixtures  : The Chairman opened up a debate initially in respect of re-arranged fixtures , fixture congestion , scheduling of fixtures for 2005  -  mainly to ensure everyone was fully aware of the progress to date in each League & Cup Competition . As a result of these discussions the following was decided :-

a)     The U/13 Cup Final scheduled for 15th August would commence at 9-30am and be 20 overs per innings NOT 25 overs as per the Handbook

b)     The U/15 Mervyn Porter Cup Final would be held on 8th August at Astley Bridge CC between FSC & ABCC

c)     The U/18 Jake Tatlock Trophy Quarter Final between ABCC & Westhoughton would take place on 18th July ; the Quarter Final between Horwich & FSC would take place on a day / dates agreed by both Clubs BUT by 25th July at latest ; the Semi Finals would take place as scheduled on 25th  July between Bradshaw & Farnworth and AB / Westhoughton v Horwich / FSC

d)     The U/15 Fixtures which were "scrapped" on 21/6 because of Hamer / Birtwistle Cup matches would be re-scheduled for 18th August

e)     The U/18 Reuben Mather Final between Bradshaw & Greenmount would be at ABCC on Friday 30th July

f)       A discussion was held regarding the recent U/18 Heaton v FSC match , concerning the match being "called off" . As no Match Card had as yet been received there was nothing to discuss

In more general terms , a discussion was held concerning the "shape & format" of the Junior Section for 2005 and it was agreed that a Sub Committee be formed to bring forward recommendations in time for the 2004 AGM . Members wishing to sit on this Cttee contact the League Chairman .

Age Level Reports  : U/11 - Ian Cavill reported that he was still awaiting confirmation of dates for Inter League matches . Horwich CC had represented the League in the LKO but were beaten by Penwortham . Match cards were still not coming in  -  Farnworth / FSC / Greenmount were the biggest culprits .

Age Level Reports  : U/13  - Geoff Diggle reported that in the Peak Sports Inter League Competition the match v Cheshire County League had been conceded to us . Match Cards were still not coming in .

Age Level Report  : U/15  -  League leaders are FSC who remain unbeaten ; Match Cards are coming in OK , save for the odd one.

Age Level Report  :  U/18  - John Roberts reported that in the 2nd match of the MEN Competition we had been beaten by the North Lancs League . Eagley CC were thanked for hosting this match .Our 3rd match was on 8th August . Darren Wilson echoed the remarks of his colleagues regarding the poor posting of Match Cards .

Any Other Business   : Child Protection ( Mike Buckley spoke on behalf of John Hutchinson ) - John is the appointed Welfare Officer for the League & he had requested the assistance of Mike Buckley , due to work commitments . It was agreed that this matter would be discussed at the League Senior meeting .

The Walkden Festival  -  All Clubs were reminded to check their availability and the dates as per the League Handbook . The top 8 Clubs were invited to participate & the Draw would be done at the August meeting .

The next Meeting was confirmed as Thursday 19th August at Astley Bridge CC
