The England Cricket Board have laid out details of what procedure to follow in becoming a qualified coach. It is very important to read the "Safe-Hands" document and all coaches are required to have the "Criminal Records Bureau" (CRB) check completed before taking on any coaching obligations. This is done by completing the Self-Declaration form available on this website and sending it to our local Welfare Officer at Bolton Metro. Contact Natalie Woodford on 01204-334238.

Some guidelines are detailed below.

The ECB runs a National Coaching Scheme, which is designed to equip coaches with the necessary skills to deliver high quality coaching programmes at all levels of the game.

This scheme, which is run from the ECB Coach Education Office at Edgbaston, includes the following:

Introductory Courses

These provide a basic introduction to the skills and knowledge required to effectively assist a qualified coach in introducing and developing cricket among young people in an environment of safety and enjoyment.

Level I

Level I equips the beginner coach with skills and knowledge required to introduce and develop cricket amongst young people in an environment of safety and enjoyment.

Level II

Level II builds on skills and knowledge acquired at Level I and develops further competencies.

Level III

Level III equips established Level II coaches with a range of knowledge and skills designed to significantly enhance performance when working with performance orientated cricketers of all age groups.

Level IV

Level IV builds on skills and knowledge acquired during and after Level III. It is designed to equip coaches either operating in, or with the potential to operate in the professional arena.

Level V

Level V will provide individually designed needs analysed education and support programmes for high-performing Level IV coaches who are currently working in or have the potential to work in the international arena.

ECB Coaches Association

The ECB Coaches Association supports the activities, interests and continuing development of all ECB qualified coaches and who have become members.
